I used to believe that the stable that Jesus was born in belonged to someone named Aunt Chelsea because when we sang "Angels We Have Heard on High" in church, it sounded like "In Aunt Chelsea's Stable" instead of "In Excelsis Deo".
I thought when Elvis had died they never found his body and that was why people thought he was still alive (makes more sense to me!)

My family is Catholic, and every Sunday when I was a kid we'd go to church. Just before the kids left the main sermon for Sunday school, we'd sing Hosanna in the Highest. Despite being in the church choir, five-year-old me thought "Hosanna" was actually "Lasagna." (We're also Italian; maybe I had lunch on the brain?) I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why the adults were singing about holy lasagna.
I thought in the song "The Caterpillar" by The Cure the line "I'll dust my lemon lies, with powder pink and sweet" was "I'll toss my leather gloves, where Power Pig can see"!

In Elton John's song "Honky Cat," when he sang "get back, honky cat," I thought he was singing "get back, hump a cat." I sang that with my friend, he laughed at me and gave me the correct lyric lol
I thought the song by The Human League that goes like "And so the conversation turned, until the sun went down" was "And so the confirmation burned, until the buns turned brown".
I used to believe that every time I played a CD the singer would have to stop whatever he or she was doing, wherever they were in the world, and start singing for me.

Up until I was about seven years old, I believed that guitars were called "dox-a-dangs." My parents never corrected me. I had to learn the real name on my own.

There's a John Mellencamp song that has the line "I fight authority, and authority always wins." I thought they were saying "I fight Dorothy, and Dorothy always wins!"

There is a Christmas song that goes "Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas day..." But I always thought that it was saying "Where is Pork Chop? Jesus Christ! He was born on Christmas day..." I thought they were actually talking about the character Lamb chop but had just gotten his name wrong....I used to sing it that way too! O_O

In the movie Mary Poppins when she sings Feed The Birds there is a part that goes "all the saints and apostles" that, when I was little, I was convinced went "all the snakes and opossums". My dad always told me I was right and would sing it to me like that when I was going to sleep.

Ya'know the song Lonely by Akon, well I just realized a few days ago that the lyrics are "I've got nobody, and I'm all on my own." I always thought they were "I've got no body", as in a head without a body.....

This is weird, but as a little kid I would go to sleep with the radio on. I used to honestly believe that Phil Collins's "In The Air Tonight" would summon Bigfoot from the woods behind my house, and the only way to protect myself was to hide under the covers and stay motionless.

After Puff Daddy's "I'll be Missing You" came out, my father explained that The Police had sung the original song. I thought the actual police force had realised a musical number for quite some time

Blind Melon's "No Rain"---
"You know I'd like to keep my chi extracted, eh." instead of "You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today." Still hear it every time.
