You might not have heard it, but "Father of Mine" by Everclear has a good misheard lyric of mine: Instead of, "My daddy gave me a name", I still like to think it says, "My daddy laid me an egg" ...
Also, that song that goes, "My boy's gonna play in the big league/My boy's gonna turn some heads/etc" (I can't think of the title or who sings it off the top of my head) ... But you know the song ... In the bridge, it sounds EXACTLY like he says, "You can hear the asscrack" and not "You can hear the ice crack".
Or, there's always the Steve Miller Band's "Bingo Jed Had a Lighter" ...
... Draw your own conclusions.

For a long time I thought the Beatles song Penny Lane had a weird title since the words were "...And Elaine is in my..."

I grew up on rock and roll, so imagine my surprise when, at 23, I found out that the ACDC song was dirty deeds done dirt cheap and not thirty thieves and the thunder chief

i used to think in michael jackson's billie jean he said "the chair is not my son" instead of "the child is not my son". i asked my mom when i was about 7 why he would state the obvious like that, because obviously a chair couldn't be a son. i also thought he couldn't really have a son because he was michael jackson. too bad i was wrong.

At about four years old, (in the '50s), I heard a song on the radio, wherein a woman was singing, "Since I lost my baby, I almost lost my mind..." This seemed to me completely tragic. I had a little brother, and could imagine how upset Mom would be if she lost him.

I am sure the majority of us have heard Madonna's song "Secret" from her Bedtime Stories album. Well, when I was young, I always thought she said "having his lice in your own hands" rather than the real, and much less confusing lyrics, "happiness lies in your hands". I finally realized what she was saying when a few years later I bought the cd and read the lyrics from the cd booklet.

I got a sound recorder thing and one time, when I was little, used it and sang into it. Afterwards, I was very embarrassed if anyone heard me sing, so I unravelled the cassette and threw it out. Then, I feared that the government would find the cassette in the junkyard, put it back together, listen to it and find out who made it. I was scared to death and embarrassed.

I used to believe that in the Rolling Stones song "Shattered" that instead of singing: "Shadoobee, Shattered, shattered" they were singing "Shazbat, shazbat."

It didn't help that I was a big MORK AND MINDY fan, and it REALLY didn't help that when I sang along this way in my father's presence, and then briefly got concerned and asked him if, wait, WAS that right? that he kept a straight face and said yes, yes it was.

my silly roommate used to think that the lyrics to Macy Gray's song said "i blow bubbles when you are not here"... the real lyrics are "my world crumbles when you are not near"
now when i walk in the room and she's blowing bubbles, well, i know what to think.

The first time I learnt our national anthem in english, I thought the line, "Some have come, from a land beyond the wave," was 'Some have come, from a land beyond the grave.' I thought they were singing about zombies or something!

I used to think the song "Englishmen In New York " which goes,
"I'm an alien,
I'm a legal alien;
I'm an Englishman in New York." was "I'm an idiot, im a leagal idiot, jumping in your yard"
