I used to think that the Elton John song "That's Why They Call It The Blues" went "That's why they call it a loo." For years, I was certain that the song was about a toilet, although I don't know why anyone would want to sing about one.

When I was little my older brother would listen to the song "Iron Man". In the beginning of the song, a metallic voice says "I.. AM... IRON MAN!" That freaked me out so bad... I always envisioned a huge metal robot crashing through the window and killing me.
I used to listen to oldies on the radio all the time. My favorite artists were the Beach Boys, and I always pictured them as really cool, hip surfers. But then I saw an old clip of them performing in formal wear and I was incredibly disappointed because I thought they were nerds.
Also, I used to have a record player in my room with an Elvis record. I actually thought Elvis was a comedian because I heard the girls screaming and thought they were just laughing really loudly.
I always thought that in the Queen song Bohiemian Rhapsody it sang: "Spare him his life from his warm sausages!" I had nightmares for years about aze-wielding oversized weiners.

When I was little and at Skateland (a place to rollerskate where they had music, and sometimes you could suggest songs) I heard this song called "poop that ass" so i really liked the beat so I suggested it. the Dj laughed at me, and clueless, i left to skate. In 6th grade I now know its Whoop there it is.

I used to live in the Southern states and there was a soda named 'Mello Yello', when I heard Donovan's song "Mellow Yellow," I thought he was singing "They call me Mello Yello" and I stopped drinking Mello Yello forever.

Until I was about ten I had always sang the song "Waterfalls" by TLC as, "Go go Jason Waterfalls..." I always wondered who he was.
I also believed for a long time that the lyrics in the song "Hot in Here" by Nelly, "Dancin' in front of the mirror while you're on the phone sayin', 'girl, I think my butt's gettin big!'" was "'Girl, I think my butt can bend!'"
I'll never live those down.

My younger sister always sung the "I got my first real six-string"-part from Brian Adams' "Summer Of 69" wrong. Instead, she sung "I got my first real sex dream"

The Electric Six song, "Danger! High Voltage!" has a line that goes "fire in the disco, fire in the taco bell" but my friend (aged 19!!) thought it was "fire in the disco, fire in the taco bin"!! she thought it was like a bread bin, but especially for taco shells! bless her.

There's a line in the Michael Jackson / Paul McCartney song that goes like this "Say, Say, Say what you want, but don't play games with my affection". My younger sister used to think it went: "Say, Say, Say what you want, but don't be afraid of my complexion".
Ironic, given Jackson's "complexion" these days!

I used to think that Ellis Island was Elvis Presley's own island, or something like that. I used to watch PBS all the time, so in between the kid's programs there would be specials on stuff, and I think there was one on Ellis Island, and then there would be a commercial for Elvis's greatest hits or something, and I associated them. Strange though, as there was two kids in my kindergarten class who's last name was Ellis...don't know why I didn't connect those two.

when i heard "strawberry fields forever" for the first time, i mistook it as "strawberry fields for trevor" whenever i heard the song i would say (rather loudly i might add)"WHO'S TREVOR? AND WHY DOES HE GET STRAWBERRY FIELDS" once i did this is a sore at the mall, wih a radio playing. It gets worse. We (my parents and i, i was about 5) were at an electronics store, and just then a salemen came around and said "Do you have any questions?" "yes," i reaplied "Who's trevor?"
Unfortunatly for me, nobody understood (What a nice imagination our daughter has) or set me straight about the song lyrics. Several years later, when i was 9 i was still hanging on the my "Trevor" belief when i went to a Pick-Ur-Own strawberry farm type thing with a sign that said "Strawberry Fields" this set off a little bell in my head, would i soon find out who trevor was? when some guy came to tell us where to go and to give us a container for the strawberries i just had to say : "Excuse me, but are you trevor?"
