remember that song "tubthumper" by chumbawamba? well, i used to think that they were saying "i get no doubt, but i can over-get it". turns out that they were actually saying "i get knocked down, but i get up again". i felt like a complete idiot when i found the correct lyrics online a few years ago! how i came up with "over-get", i'll never know :D

I used to think that AC/DC stood for the first letters of the band members' names. Oh, how mistaken I was.

I also thought that the Rolling Stones were stone rollers, (which meant the rolled stones down hills as a hobby) Rob Zombie was actually a ghost story called "Rob the Zombie," and that Michael Jackson was best friends with Prince. o_O I was a wierd kid. (Still am, I'm 12 now. ^^;)

The 4 Non-Blondes song "What's Up" contains a lyric that says "I pray every single day." As a teenager I sang from the bottom of my lungs "I pray to St. Cote." Don't know who that particular Saint is, but the lyrics still sound like that to me.

I used to hear Tears for Fears 'Everybody wants to rule the world' was 'everybody wants to hold your hand'

I heard a Billy Joel song that went "You may be right, I may be crazy" as "you make the rice, I'll make the gravy". Also, until reading on here, I thought the Sir Mix-Alot song "Big Butts" said "Oooh Rumpelstiltskin" not "I wanna rub you smooth skin" as well.

in the song "inch by inch, row by row; I'm gonna make this garden grow. All it takes is a rake and a hoe and a piece of fertile ground." I thought that "all it takes is a rake and a hoe" was "all it takes is oregeno"

When songs came on the radio, adults would say, 'Oh, that's by so-and-so.' I was amazed they knew so much, and scared that knowing who sang what songs was something you were forced to memorize in school.

When I was growing up, I happened to see something on TV about Madonna. This was when she was going through her "Marilyn Monroe" phase, and the people on the TV show made a big deal of this. Somehow, this gave me the impression that Madonna was a group, and not an individual performer, and the lead singer of this group was named Marilyn Monroe. So, when I read somewhere that Marilyn Monroe had died in 1960 or thereabouts, I was extremely confused...

I always thought that that freaky song,"Barbie Girl" was sayin' : I'm a BOBBY girl, livin' in uh Bobby woooorrrld! " Little did she know that I had a crush on a guy named Bobby at the time. Hmmm. Intelestink.
