My husband turned me on to classic ACDC, and up until he heard me singing along, I thought the lyrics were:
Dirty Deeds and the Thunder Chief
It's one of his favorite "cocktail party stories."

When i was younger, i heard The Beatles sing:
Shes got a ticket to ride,
shes got a ticket to ride,
shes got a ticket to ride,
but she dont care.
My baby dont care.
My baby dont care.
I thought they sang:
Shes got a chicken to ride,
shes got a chicken to ride,
shes got a chicken to ride,
but she dont care.
My baby donkey.
My baby donkey.
Lol. To my surprise, i've found a flashfilm on a website with a chicken riding a baby donkey, and that very same song playing in the background:

When i heard POD's "youth of the nation" for the first time, then i heard this:
You cross the line and there’s no turning back
Told the world how he felt
With the sound of a gat
I thought they sang something about a guy commiting suicide:
You cross the line and there’s no turning back
Took his own life
with the side of a cat!
Yup! I really thought this guy committed suicide by knocking himself down with a cat :)

I used to believe that when the group TLC was singing their song "Don't go chasing Waterfalls" they were singing "Don't go Jason Waterfalls"

My older sister and I are very close in age. When we were four and five, we were in a Taco Bell with our parents and our baby brother around Christmas Time. We were singing Christmas Carols...and got to "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". Well, we got to the line where it goes, "santa came to say, rudolph with your nose so bright won't you guide my sleigh tonight" but we were convinced and sang at the top of our lungs in this packed Taco Bell "Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you be my slave tonight?" Everyone stared at my parents wondering what kind of people they were to teach us those words and we never went back to that taco bell.

Savage Garden had a song. I cannot remember the name. But this what I thought the lyrics were.
Ooh I want you I don't know if I need you Ooh I I'm dying to find Hell.
Real Lyrics.
Oh I want you I don't know if I need you ooh I'm dying to find out
I used to sing along to Lionel Ritchie's Hello but instead of 'when I see you pass outside my door' I thought it was 'when I see your pants outside my door'. Oh how I laugh now!

Around the first time I ever knew of anybody playing a cello, I thought that instrument was invented for violinists who had played so long as to wear out their chin and shoulder and therefore could no longer hold a violin in the normal position for any length of time. A cello was essentially the same instrument, I thought, designed to rest on the floor so they could continue to play it after their chin and shoulder were worn out. I hadn't yet learned back then about different sized instruments having different pitch ranges.

During one phase of my childhood, someone convinced me that no respectable kind of music was ever played on a guitar. I even got the idea during that time that "guitar" was like a "dirty word" and I wasn't supposed to say it.

my mom has always thought that the lyrics to the ruff ryders song, "ride or die chick" were, i need a raunchy daunchy, when they were actually, i need a ride or die chick. We were riding in the car singing the song and she said her lyrics all loud and proud. To this, my sister and i have not been able to get her to use the right lyrics.

For the longest my mom used to think that the lyrics to nas's "if i ruled the world " were get down nancy pearl, when they were actually black diamonds and pearls. That was the funniest thing ever. To this day i cannot listen to that song without laughing.

My brother and I were utterly fascinated when Micheal Jackson would do the Moonwalk, and we tried for hours to get it down ourselves, but we were never able to, so we were convinced that he was a wizard. When my eldest sister went to a Jackson concert one year, my brother and I pleaded her to not go because "he would put a curse" on her. Now, I'm still scared of him, but for different reasons.

Im 13 and I believed up until a few days ago that the USA's National Athem was a Christmas Carol! I found out because we were talking about what Christmas Carols we thought were kinda strange and random, and I started singing it and my friend burst into hysterics and told me that it was the USA's national athem!
I used to believe (acutally until about a month ago) that in the song This Kiss that instead of saying silver moom sparkeling, I tohugh they were saying saylor moon sparkling!

This is actually my stepsister's but well here it goes:
She used to think that in that song "Drity Deeds Done Dirt Cheep"(i dont know the actual song title but thoes are the lyrics that she mixed up)that they were saying "thirty deeds and a thunder chick". One day we were sitting in a CHURCH parking lot waiting to meet someone to go out to eat and we were listing to that song. She sang almost all of the lyrics and when it got to that part she sang it as she thought it was. My mother and myself could hardly contain our laughter.
I used to think that "Anxiety" by Pat Benatar had these lyrics: "Sometimes in the city, sometimes in my car, I pound on the windows, I could pee inside a jar."
Found out years later that it was "like a bee inside a jar". D'oh!
