I used to believe…

For a while, I used to think that Led Zeppelin was the name of a person that fronted the band of the same name. I was set straight when I asked my father if Led Zeppelin was still alive.
Also, during my childhood, I used to think that Elton John was straight, but boy, was I wrong.

On the bus in kindergarten, the big kids would sing the song that goes "I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves" etc. Well anyway, I thought they were saying "I know a song that gets an extra Suzy verse", and since my name is Suzanna, I thought they were singing about me. Also, there was this one sharp turn we always came to, and they would chant "SHARP TURN! SHARP TURN!" but I thought they were saying "SHARK TURD! SHARK TURD!" Sometimes I'd sing along with them.

I used to believe…

When I was little I just knew there were five Beatles. My father had some Beatles records, some of John Lennon's and George Harrison's respective solo albums and, near them, some Bob Dylan records, so I figured he must be the fifth one.

I used to believe…

In the Philippines, my cousin once told me that the chorus for "Too Legit to Quit" was actually "Bulate sa Puwet," which in Filipino translated to "Worm in the Butt." For years I thought that was what MC Hammer said.

I used to believe…

The real lyrics...
*Dont go chasing waterfalls. Please stick the rivers and the lakes that your used to*
What I heard...
* Dont go chasing waterfalls. Lipstick to the rivers and the lakes that your used to* My mom would crack up when I sang and I had no clue why.

I felt really sorry for Mariah Carey when I was little. I thought her face was actually a mask, and because her real face was ugly she wouldn't be allowed to be a pop star unless she wore her mask. Why I thought this I have no idea...

My younger sister couldn't understand why Kelly Clarkson was so upset about her bakery goods in the song 'Miss Independent':

"What happened to my cinnamon buns?"

I told her that the lyrics are really "what happened to Miss Independent?" - but I don't know why I bothered, because now all I can hear is those bloody cinnamon buns!

i used to think that the chorus to eminem's without me went: "so this looks like on top of me, so everybody just follow me, cos we need a lil contoprosy(???), cos it feels so guilty without me" when in fact it went"well this looks like a job for me, so everybody just follow me cos we need a lil controvercy, and it feels so empty without me" and cos i'm like a mega eminem fan my friend asked me to remind her of the tune, i started singin the chorus to her....

I used to think the John Lennon - Merry Christmas (War Is Over) song said 'Let's hope its a good one, with plenty of beer' instead of 'without any fear' as my dad always sang it like that...

I used to strongly believe that the 70's metal band Kansas played country music, because kansas is in the country therefore I wouldn't let anyone listen to it cos I was convinced country was evil, for no desernible reason.

You know what the really sad part of that is? I was born and raised till age 8 in kansas.

In the song Baby one more time by Britney Spears, theres this line:
Tell me baby cuz I need to know now, what be cause.
Well my younger sister was convinced those weren't the words and would sing at the top of her lungs:
Tell me baby cuz I need to know now,
WHOOPIE CUSHION!

i used to think that the song "hungry eyes" said "whole green eyes". I couldn't understand what it meant. It made me think of grapes!!

Also, in Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, i thought the chorus said "You've been hit by, you've been struck by a SPOON". I didn't get that either.
