I used to believe that in the song "Roxanne" by The Police, that Sting was talking about a light that people turn on and off in their bedrooms when he was singing, "You don't have to put on the red light".
I always thought that the song "Dude Looks Like A Lady" by Aerosmith was really "Do Just Like A Lady." I figured that the lead singer had seen a really hot girl and was saying something along the lines of "now that's what I call a lady."
I think I was in high school when I figured out it was about drag queens.
i used to think that people would make up songs in the shower, then someone else would come in random bathrooms and record it, then played it on the radio. for a long time i would make up songs and sing them as loud as i could hoping that someone would recerd mine, and play it on the radio station. (:

As a kid my brother would play creepy songs when I was in his room to make me get out. One day he played House of 1000 Corpses by Rob Zombie and he made me believe that the Jeffrey Dahmer police report at the beginning happened in our town, and that it would happen to me too if i didn't get out of his room. Lol, I would never stay in his room for too long.
I used to think the song Secret Agent Man was actually secret asian man. I was singing along in the car when my mom started laughing and told me it was agent, like James Bond, not asian. I had always wondered how a person could secretly be asian. I was 16 when I finally found this out.

When I first heard the song "Mi Vida Loca" by Pam Tillis, I was totally unprepared to understand the line that says "Destiny turns on a dime". For one thing, I'd known a girl named "Destiny" but wasn't familiar with "destiny" as just a common noun. As a WORD I had no idea what it meant. Secondly, I was totally unfimiliar with the phrase to "turn on a dime". The only way I could guess the meaning was that first, It was about a girl named "Destiny", and secondly the turning on a dime" was meant as if somehow a dime might have an on / off switch. But I puzzled greatly how one could "turn on" a dime in that since (as if it were a light or something). So the song left me wondering in what since a dime could possibly have been "off" so that this girl Destiny could then turn it "on".

Near the beginning of the song 'Billy Jean' by Michael Jackson, there's a bit that goes 'Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed'' and I used to think it was 'Then Harry hit her with ice cream'.
I used to believe that the lyrics to The Christmas Song were "... and so, I'm offering this simple phrase to kids FROM ROOM 292..." the number of the room in which my elementary school music class took place.
I used to think one line to the All American Rejects' "Gives You Hell" was "I've never seen you fart so hard." Turns out it's actually "fall!"
Also, I thought that some Mamma Mia song had a line that said "Ooh, since the baby farted..." My friend agreed with me. After a few more times hearing it I figured out that it's actually "Since the day we parted."
I have a pretty wrong mind when it comes to lyrics... and farts...

For the longest time I thought Credence Clearwater Revival's song "Bad Moon Rising" had the lyrics
Don't go around tonight
Well it's bound to take your life
"There's a bathroom on the right"
The line is really
"There's a bad moon on the rise"

When I was a child we had a BIG console stereo. I used to believe that tiny musicians lived in there and played songs whenever mom wanted them to.
I was 19 when I was singing "Dirty Deeds Dunder Chicken" which my now husband looked and said WHAT? The AC/DC song Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheep was on. He died laughing. I just knew Done Dirt Cheap was Dunder Chicken.

When I was young, I don't know why, but I thought concerts were an actual battle of multiple bands playing and then the audience would vote for whom they thought won the concert.

When I was young I believed that in Queens Bohemian Rhapsody they sang..."Hes just a poor boy from a poor family. Spare him his life from these pork sausages!" when it was actually..."Hes just a poor boy from a poor family. Spare him his life from this monstrosity"
Also when I heard ABBA singing Super Trouper I thought the lyrics were..."I was sick and tired of everything, when I called you last night from Tesocs" when it's actually "I was sick and tired of everything, when I called you last night from Glasgow"...oops!

When I was a kid I was a big fan of the Rolling Stones. I thought the song Mother's Little Helper was about a kid that helped his Mom. I always told my Mom I was her little helper, and of course they didn't tell me the true meaning of the song. It wasn't until I was in High School that I figured it out.

I used to think the lyrics from XTC's "senses working overtime" were '1,2,3,4,5, Susie's working overtime!" Dave, Lancashire

when i was little i used to believe that everytime you listened to the radio it was actually playing live. In a place at a specific time. and i thought that all the artists were best friends due to the fact that the next song came quickly.
