I used to believe the song lyrics to Tori Amos' 'Professional Widow' remix was 'Honey bring me toast tonight, Honey bring me toast tonight will ya... its gotta be burnt, its gotta be burnt...' Instead of 'Honey bring me close tonight, Honey bring me close tonight...'. Thought that she was just a little strange but artistic licence and all that!

When I was going into the 8th grade, the song, "I'm, Henry the 8th, I am" was just coming out. I heard the lyrics wrong, however, until I turned 27 years old, I REALLY thought the words were... "I'm entering the 8th, I am!" I really loved that song... thought it was written just for me.

Growing up in the sixties, I used to think that the stranger the name of the group, the harder and more radical their music must be. Thus The Doors must be something simple and tame like the Beatles (early), Monkeys or the Lettermen. But Strawberry Alarm Clock, 1910 Fruitgum Company or Paul Revere and the Raiders must be really out there, Man!
I used to think that the lyrics to My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean was My Body Lies Over the ocean. I though it was supposed to be sung from the point of view of someone who drowned..
I used to believe that Michael Jackson and Prince (or the "Artist Formerly Known as Prince) were brothers because of their physical and on-stage similarities.
I have a vivid memory from age three. My memory of Paul McCartney singing "Band on the Run" is inextricably linked to seeing a rabbit run through my back yard. I thought Paul was saying "Ban" which is another word for rabbit, like bunny. Consequently, Paul was singing about the "Ban on the Run" that I was seeing in my lawn.

Reading a misheard lyric from "You're The One That I Want" on this site, I was reminded of how I misheard the song when I first saw the clip from "Grease" aged 6.
I thought it was called "You're The Wuther The Wuh" ("You are the wuh-the-wuh, ooh-ooh-ooh, honey" etc).
