To this day my mom doesn't believe me when I tell her that the line in The Beach Boys song "Kokomo" is "...that Monserrat mystique" and not "that man's a rotten stinker!"
I thought outkast were singing "never meant to make your doggy cry, dry your eyes will be alright!"

I used to think the song ALL STAR went, "I ate the sharpest tool in the shed....you'll never shine if you don't blow.." I always wondered why they encouraged kids to eat sharp things and give blow jobs..

When I was fairly young, (probably around 5) I used to think the lyrics to the Madonna song "Express Yourself" were: "Make music, slap your dead baby"...imagine my parents suprise when they heard me singing those lyrics as apposed to the real ones: "Make him express himself, baby"
I remember being seven years old, living in Sweden, and being appalled by the disgusting name of a rock band. The band was Kiss. "Kiss" means "pee" in Swedish.

Before I became enlightened and entered the world of Kerrang, rock and metal I believed that an 'air guitar' was an actual instrument. I always wondered about the physics of a guitar working on air. I also thought air guitars were only used for playing intense solo pieces. I figured out the truth for myself.
Now I own an air guitar and I play along to my cd's on it.

In the Eminem song 'Sing for the moment' I thought he was singing 'So I'm signing CD's whilst police finger Britney'. Well, it is Eminem!!! It wasn't until I asked my boyfriend why the police would be fingering Britney that I found it was '...whilst police fingerprint me'!

When I was a young girl, my mother used to sing "You are my Sunshine" to me as a lullaby. She died when I was 8, and because she had been sick for a few years, I hadn't heard her sing it to me since I was probably around 4 or 5. Well, one summer, I found my old crib mobile music box, which played the song. While I remembered the first verse, I couldn't remember the second. On the long trip to college, I finally asked my dad, "Daddy? How's the second verse of 'You are my Sunshine' go? All I know is that it's about steak." "Steak? There's no steak in that song." That's when I found out that I was mishearing the phrase "When I awoke dear, I was *mistaken*", and had been assuming it was about steak.

This is so embarracing...I had such a cruch on Peter Andre when I was about 10, that I 'officially' changed my name to Champagne because my sister told me that was the name of the girl in the 'Mysterious Girl' video, and that she was really his girlfriend. I woudn't answer to anyone calling me Katy. Now i feel pretty silly because it wasn't even true!!

My high school friend, Janice, thought that the song "You're the One That I Want" (from "Grease") was actually "Women in a Boat". (If you say it fast enough, maybe.)

In the Cyndi Lauper song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", I used to think she was saying "they dance the waddle" instead of they just wanna.
