When I was about 5 I believed that in rock songs space was left after every line so that you could repeat the words that had just been sung.

In the song from Nickleback (I think) He says "This Time I'm mistaken, for handing you a heart worth breakin'" My friend swore he said --"This time I'm steakin--For breakfast I had eggs and bacon"

Another friend told me she used to think "Billie Jean is Not my lover" was--"There's a genie at my door..."

Finally me--In the musical Les Mis Eponine and Marius sing "A little Fall of rain" I was listening to it so I could learn it for an audition and I swore they said "...a little for the brain" and another part went "...the skies begin to clear and I'm at rest" I thought she said " and dry my dress"

I swear in the song 'Blue' by Eiffel 65, they are not saying da ba dee da ba di... but, If I was green I would die... No one else seems to hear it though.

My daughter cracked me up one day as we were singing along to Prodigy Smack my Bitch Up. She seriously thought they were singing Smack the Bishop!!! She was about 16 at the time and she still sings it that way, she got me started too. So now i can't sing it the way it should be

My brother was playing Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze around my mother, when suddenly she exclaimed "That's disgusting! How can you listen to that crap?" We asked exactly what she was talking about and she said "He said he wants to kiss that guy!" Um, mom, its "kiss the sky."

I was listening to Temple of Love by the Sisters of Mercy with my roommate. There is a line that says "shine like thunder, cry like rain." He thought it was "shine like thunder, I like brains." I still sing it that way every time.

I used to think that the group that sang the 80s song "Voices Carry" was telling the story of two people named George and Carrie. As in, "'Oh George, keep it down now!' whispers Carrie"!

(The actual lyrics are *hush hush,* keep it down now, *voices carry*)

When I was little my Dad would play Queens Bohemiam Rhapsody and I always thought they were singing "spare him his life for these pork sausages" and not "Spare him his life from this monstrosity" I always thought he'd been caught for killing a man and because he was a poor boy from a poor family they were trying to save him with some pork sausages!

When I was in elementary school about 45 years ago, the class sang Christmas songs. Being Jewish, I didn't know what these songs were about--I just tried to sing them with the rest of the kids. When they sang, Oh Tannenbaum, I thought everyone was singing about my relatives, the Tenenbaums. When everyone was singing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," I was really wondering if it was about my Uncle Harold or my Cousin Harold Tenenbaum.

When i was younger i allways remember my dad singin "praise you like a shoe" insted of "praise you like i should" (fat boy slim)and was convinced that they were all dancing round a shoe in the vid!!!

I thought the Carpenters song went: "Calling occupants of interplanetary crap". I thought the lyrics were a bit strange, but she was unmistakeably saying "crap".
Years later it suddenly dawned on me that the Karen Carpenter was American, and had an American accent...

I thought Glen Fry's song Boys of Summer, was actually Poison Summer.

My friend thought Sittin on the dock of the Bay, by Otis Redding actually said, Sittin on the top of the bed.

i though, and i tried to convince my friends, that enrique iglesias
"you can run you can hide but you can't escape my love" was "you can run, you can die, but you can't escape Milo"
now all my friends sing those lyrice instead

I used to believe…

instead of "sitting on the dock of the bay" i heard my mother's friend belting out at the top her lungs one day
"sitting like a duck in bombay"
your guess is as good as mine...

I used to believe…

a friend of mine used to think that the lyrics to D.I.S.C.O., in which the chorus was them spelling it ('Dee Eye Ess Sea Oh') went somthing like...

'Be My Eskimo'... (Say out loud for full humor effect)

My how we laughed...

I was about 5 when Prince's song, I Wanna Be Your Lover first came out. Until I was old enough to look up the lyrics myself, I always thought he said "I wanna be the only one you COOK forrr..." instead of "come forrr..."

Hey, I thought cooking for someone was a big deal. lol

I used to think that the lyrics to the last line of "Row, Row, Row your Boat" was "Life, a spot, a dream." I never could figure it out until my mom told me.
