I had a friend when i was younger that thought in that Kate Bush song, This Womans Work, that they were saying, "i know you have a lot of strange friends" instead of "i know you have a lot of strength left."

Go listen to the song "Every light in the house is on," by Trace Adkins, the country music singer,
I swear in the second verse he says,
"that's me waiting at home each night in Georgia."
Well my friends are always correcting me,
they said it's,
"that's me waiting at home each night to hold you."
Whatever! I like mine better.
I used to think that the hit song "Dude looks like a lady," by Aerosmith, actually said,
"Do the funky lady,"
My husband always thought that Sade's song "Smooth Operator" was "Sooner or Later"
I used to think Toto's Africa contained the line "I spent my life trying to get away from you," (rather than "it'd take a lot to take me away from you.") What makes it more entertaining is that the follow-up line is "it's something that a hundred men or more could never do," thus leaving me with the image of a woman with a hundred or so people just stuck to her like a magnet.
when i was little, my mom told me that if she hadnt married my step-dad, she would have married Phil Collins. I always thought she was seriously one of his "ex-lovers", and that they had had a serious relationship, untill i was about 12 and hse told me otherwise when i brought it up one day.
Up to about the age of 8 i never always thought Michael Jackson was a sort of monster and not a human. I don't think i ever asked anyone about this either. So he scared me for quite a while!!!

I used to believe that my mom, brother's and sister and I wrote the song "you can call me Al" by Paul Simon for my dad (Al) for his birthday.
When I saw orchestras and symphonies and school bands and stuff performing, I thought the conductor's baton told them what notes to play and that they had never played the song before, that the baton was just telling them what to do. I was really amazed at the skill of the band!
When I was little, my father sang a cute little song, "Mares Eat Oats". I thought the words were like this: Maresy dotes and dosey dotes and little lambsy divey, a kiddlee divey too, wouldn't you?
In the song 'Yesterday' by the Beatles, the line goes: I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday. I used to believe it went: I said, 'Something wrong?' Now I long for yesterday. It's a small but very important difference.
My best friend, when she was young, really liked the song "take my breath away". The thing is, she thought it said "Take my brother Houla"!!

I use to think in the Madonna song "La Isla Bonita", Madonna sang "Last night I dreamt of salt bagels" instead of "Last night I dreamt of San Pedro".

Re: Lucy In The Sky - someone once told me that for the longest time he believed the song went: "The girl with colitis goes by" :))
My neice was convinced that the line about 'The girl with kalidiscope eyes' in the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", was actually 'The girl when Kalidis goes by'. I'm not sure who she thought Kalidis was, but she couldn't be convinced otherwise.
I remember sitting on my Dad's lap when the Beatles' song Eight Days a Week first came out. I was confused because someone had told me there were really only seven days in a week and I wanted to believe the Beatles.
A huge baseball and Beach Boys fan as a young kid (and still am), I used to believe "Catch A Wave" meant going to the beach, running to the water's edge with your baseball mitt and trying to catch the water rushing towards you.

Herman's Hermits used to sing - she's a must to avoid. I thought it was - she's a muscular boy
I was a little boy when Elvis Presley died. When the news cam out that he had died of a heart attack, I did not know what that was, so I though he had died of a "hard attack."
I pictured Elvis getting killed in a swordfight with a bunch of bad guys.
I use to believe that Geddy Lee was a woman...I mean, who didn't? In my mind he looked like Melissa Ethridge.
