my little brother thought that the words to "everything's coming up roses" were "everything's coming, copruses!" he would run around the house singing it, and it was hysterical.

i used to think that "big old jet airliner" song said "big ole ted & eliza". my best friend molly's parents were named ted and eliza so we thought it was so cool that there was a song about them.
I can't listen to the Credence song Loki the same way since a friend told me what he grew up thinking the lyrics were.
In his mind the line "...I'm stuck in Loki again", became "...I'm sucking on old diaphragms". Brings a smile to my face everytime II hear the song.
When I was little I was extremely afraid of Gene Simmons of KISS -- I thought of him as being a monster such as Freddy Krueger. Whenever I would see him on TV with KISS, I would wonder why the rest of the band members weren't afraid to stand by him. Also, my brother would come into my room and force me too look at his scary KISS album covers. However, once I became I teenager I began to love KISS and no longer feared the mighty Gene.
When I was about 5 years old, I believed that the song "Riders on the Storm" by the Doors was actually titled "Writers on the Storm." I also believed that it was performed by Johnny Cash.
My husband, as a child, interpreted the line "Mercy!," in the song "Pretty Woman" as "Horsies!"
Our class sang "My country, 'tis of thee" every day in second grade, and I thought the last two lines went "from every mountaintop, every domray". For a good while I wondered what a domray was, until I finally figured out it was 'let freedom ring'
I used to think that the chorus from R.E.M.'s 'Stand' said, "Think about your ERECTION, wonder why you have it".
Should have been "Think about your direction...".
That's teenage boys for you.
There's this song, I think it's by the Eagles but I'm not sure, and it says "There's a bad moon on the rise". Well I used to think it said, "there's a bathroom on the right". I couldn't figure out what that had to do with anything.
My husband used to believe that in Juice Newton's song "Angel of the Morning" she sang "just touch my teeth before you leave me". Pretty revolting - the real words "touch my cheek" conjures up a more romantic image!

I really, truly thought that Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson were the same person.

My friend Sandy use to sing "Dirty jeans, Dungarees", instead of Dirty deeds done dirt cheap!
Try it, it's kinda fun!
I was about four when Jim Croce died. I had been given a single of "Bad, Bad, LeRoy Brown" shortly before he died, and played it all the time. After his death, I didn't understand how come I could still hear his voice on the record player if he was dead.
One of the first 45s my sister and I bought was a song by The Guess Who. We thought we were really supposed to "guess who" the singers were. This is still embarrassing to admit! We were about 10 and 11 at the time.
The Nolans song "I'm in the Mood for Dancing" my favourite when I was young, only I thought the lyrics were - "I'm in the nude for dancing."
I guess I was dirty minded as a child!!!
Music - When i was a child i used to believe the Queen decided who was the Number One single, so when i was 6 or 7 i couldnt understand why she would allow the anti-monarchy song "God Save the Queen", by the Sex Pistols be Number One ! In her Silver Jubilee year as well ! BTW - the song "Papa Was A Rollin Stone'" by the Temptations? The verse where it says "And when he died all he left us was alone." Till i read it on this site i still thought it was " all he left us was a loan"..Is it not ?

i used to think the lyrics to "i saw the sign, and it opened up my eyes" by ace of base was "i saw the sun, and it opened up the clouds"

Quando era pequeno soube que Lennon tinha sido assassinado, na hora me vei a imagem do Paul, achei que Paul tinha morrido...
When I was 8 or 9, me and my dad was watching a rock concert, and the performer (cannot remember who it was), took the mic with him and walked around stage while he was singing. My dad told me that the singer was a thief, he was about to steal the mic! I believed this until I was 11 or so, then one day i suddenly realised that he was joking..
I was watching a concert on tv. They announced the next performers would be
"Olivia New and John".
I thought it was weird for the guy to have no last name, and then it got even weirder because only one woman performed. It was years before I realised it was Olivia Newton John.
This was actually done by my nephew, but when he was small, "California Dreamin'", by the Mamas and the Papas, would come on the radio and he would start off singing "I love Lisa Brown, and the sky is gray" (not "All the leaves are brown...").
