I used to believe…
For a long time I thought that Elton John was a former member of the band, The Rolling Stones. That belief came from his song "Philadelphia Freedom", whose first line is "I used to be a rolling stone."
I used to think that there was a line in the Box Tops song "Cry Like A Baby" that was "When I think about the good lucky caveman, I cry like a baby." (The line actually was "When I think about the good love you gave me, I cry like a baby.")
It made perfect sense in my head--the singer envied cavemen since they got to live in a world unsullied by pollution. I made up my mind that the song was an environmental message.
I used to believe, that when you had to sing a song, it didn't matter if you screwed up the lyrics with something you THINK souned like the words, because if YOU thought it sounded like it, everyone else wouldn't notice 'cause it souned similar.
Oh how wrong i was. I found out that is not true after i sang science i walked away from school,
when it should have been SINCE i walked away from YOU.
How embarrasing (sp?)

When I was in elementary school we used to listen to 60's 70's and 80's songs and I thought the lyrics for "Hey Mickey" were "you take me by the paw when you take me by the hand instead of "you take me by the heart when you take me by the hand"

One day while rideing in the car with my 2 friends the song "Unwritten" by Natasha Benningfield came on. So we all started to sing along. As i started to listen to my friend singing next to me. I realized that she was saying:
"Release Your Intermissions,
Feel The Rain On Your Skin."
Its Inabitions, not Intermissions.
I used to think the in ears that singers wore when performing live were hearing aids because they were always standing in front of those speakers that it made them go deaf.
I used to believe the lyrics in Theory of a Deadman's "No Surprise" were..
"Who would ever think I'd go and end up,
