In Alanis Morissette's song "Ironic", I thought the first line said "An old man turned and yanked", which I figured made sense if he won the lottery. Maybe he turned and yanked on a slot machine or something?...

My mum always thought (and, sadly, still thinks) that the song "smoke gets in your eyes" by the Platters is actually "small cats in your eyes".
I thought that Ac/Dc song, "You Shook Me All Night Long" was "You Shoot Me All Night Long." I figured out the song was about sex, but I thought "shoot me" was a slang that I just hadn't heard yet.

When I was younger, I thought that musicians would only want to ever listen to the music that they played. So when I was a kid,I read an an interview with a male pop artist. The interviewer asked him bands he liked to listen to. In my childish brain, I thought 'duhh, of course he listens to himself!'
I was surprised to learn that that particular pop singer was into the Beatles.
...I'm sure he was probably just trying to sound modest, though.

the first time i heard the song "black-eyed" by placebo, i was unaware of the title. if you're not familiar with the song, during the chorus the lead singer says "black-eyed" over and over. however, i thought he was saying "black guy." my friend nearly killed herself laughing when i asked her how black guys played into a song about insanity.
