When I was a kid my mum had an old stereo which looked like a wooden cupboard, When we put on old vinyls she always told us to close the front. I believed that when the music was playing the band appeared on top of the record and started to play. So many times I tried to take a peek but as I opened the door they would disappear because they were shy, thats why they made records and weren't on tv, while the other bands that were on tv didn't make records.
I used to love Brian Adams and when I was about 10 I would listen to the song "im going to Run to you" except I never saw the lyrics so I was always really embarrassed when I listened to it around my mum 'cause I thought he was singing "runter" and in my warped 10 year old mind I thought "runter "meant to have sex!Years later when I found out he was saying im going to run- to- you I was in stitches!

As children, my brother and I loved the song, "Our House" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. The line, "with two cats in the yard" was misinterpreted by us...we loudly sang, "with two cats in the ARMY!" every time the song was played. It never made sense to me why two cats would enlist in the army, or why the family the belonged to would ship them off to war.

For years I thought the 10,000 Maniacs song "Because The Night," instead of saying,"The way I feel under your command," said, "The way I feel on the Autobahn." I thought it was a song about road trips.

For the longest time when I was a kid, I used to think the lyrics to the Bob Dylan/Eric Clapton song "Knockin' on Heavens Door", was:
Knock, knock, knocking on Evan's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Evan's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Evan's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Evan's door
..... Feel like I'm knockin' on Evan's door...
I could never figure out who this guy "Evan" was, and why he would never answer his door!

When I was little, the song "How Bizarre" by OMC was really popular. And I always thought he said "cruising down the freeway in my hot croissant".
I had weird images of the guy and his whole band driving a giant pastry roll thing.

Until I was a teenager, I thought the song "Maneater" was about a cannabilistic woman. I pictured her looking like a demon with wild Medusa-like hair!
Watch out, boy! She'll chew you up!

This isn't my belief, but a friend's. A few days ago (I'm 10), I was testing some classmates of mine on pop culture (Doctor Who, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, ect.) and mentioned that I knew the names of the Beatles at an early age (John, Paul, George, and Ringo). He then claimed he thought there were 5 members. Then he asked something horrifying, "The Beatles, aren't they B-5?". I assumed that B-5 was a modern boy band and that my friend had thought that "The Beatles" was some sort of nickname for them. My dad (the man responsible for my pop culture I. Q.) confirmed my fears. Let this be a lesson to fathers everywhere, educate your children about pop culture before their friends put the misunderstandings on this site!
I used to believe that Elvis (a fat singer in a white suit) and Elvis Presley (a thin movie star) were two different people. I only ever saw both on reruns in the eighties, and didn't realize they were the same people until they made him into a stamp.

I used to believe that the guys from KISS wore their make-up and garb 24/7. Gene would pop off down the shops poking out his tongue and spitting blood. I was so disappointed when I realised it was just a hook to sell records and merch.

Up until today, I thought that one line to the From First To Last song 'Note To Self', went as follows:
'I wanted ... To be the breath of God ... Oh!'
The correct lyrics are:
'I wanted ... To be the breath of fresh ... Air.'
Honestly, I have no clue how I misheard THAT. o_o;
