Part of the national anthem (UK) goes 'Send her victorious, happy and glorious'. I thought it said 'Send her Victoria, happy and Laura'. This made sense, seeing as at that time there were some twins called Laura and Victoria, so clearly the song was dedicated to them.

This isn't MINE, perse, but it's still enough to make me go into fits of laughter whenever I hear the song:
My friend Hyatt and I were sitting in her room listening to the radio. The Beach Boy's song "Barbara Ann" came on the radio, and Hyatt began singing it phonetically. It didn't sound all that wrong until after the song was over.
"Alistaire? What's a boberanne?"
"I dunno."
"Because I have a theory. A boberanne is a pink flamingo wearing Mardi Gras beads and an ornate feathered-headdress."
".... Good call."
I used to wonder why the word "seldom" was "a discouraging word", according to the lyrics for the song Home on the Range.

I used to think that the chorus of the theme song from "Flashdance" went:
"take your pants down, and make it happen."
when really it's: "take your passion..."

I used to believe that when the orchestra was tuning up before a performance, the conductor was giving them a minute to "misbehave" before they had to follow the sheet music.
I was around the age of 7 and my older my brother was a Green Day fan. Well both he and my dad watched alot of football. And I thought that Green Day was the Green Bay Packers. I couldn't figure out why a football team would make a CD. Now 13 years later, Green Day is one of my favorite bands. Ironic!

I used to belive that K D Lang was a bit weird (go figure). She had a whole song dedicated to the fact that she didn't like Bisto.
It was in fact "Constant Craving", not "Can't Stand Gravy"

When I was little, I used to think the song "Damn, I wish i was your lover.." were actually the words "Damn, I wish I was your mother!!!" . I just figured the person singing it wanted to be a mum.
I used to think the line, "I'm not big on social graces," in "Friends In Low Places" by Garth Brooks was actually, "I'm not big on sausage gravy."
Which I thought was nutty because my dad made excellent sausage gravy and how could anyone not like sausage gravy?

In 1967, the Bobby Hebb song "Sunny" was on the radio all the time. ("Sunny, thank you for the smile upon your face....") My twin sister and I were 8, and she was convinced that the song was about Jesus Christ (Sonny, not Sunny). She insisted that "Sonny One so true, I love you" was a prayer and asked the nuns if she could sing it in church.

That Aerosmith song with the lyrics "Dude looks like a lady", well I always thought it was "Do it like a lady"... which would be a better song -in my opinion
