I used to believe…

In nursery school I was taught a song, a part of which mentioned making tea for your parents after they came back home from work. At that time I didn't know what tea was, saw I imagined having to serve my parents huge chunks of meat.

I used to think that Madonna's Song where she's sings "do you love me", I thought she was singing "Annie Oakley"- It might of been because of the western outfit she was wearing, who knows!

I was about 15 when the song Video Killed the Radio Star was hot. I could not understand what this song was all about. Of course, I knew what a radio star was, because i had astronomy as a hobby. And a video was a device to record tv shows.
The English lyrics were truely incomprehensible to me, although at the time i accepted the fact that it's ok for lyrics not to make much sence.

I used to believe…

The first line in Queen's 'I want it all' is
Adventure seeker.
But I always thought it said
Adventure seagull.
I can still picture the seagul in an Indiana Jones Costume. he he.

I thought it said
I'f you've got a crush don't be an octopus

I used to believe…

Somebody to love by queen actually says the line
'I spend all my years in believing you'
it is NOT

i strangley sang to the strokes reptillia with the following words
the room is on fire with cheese sticks in her hair

when we all know that its

I used to think Jimi Hendrix was white, and Eric Clapton was black.

I used to believe in the pink floyd song another brick in the wall, instead of them saying "all in all your just another brick in the wall" they were saying "all in all you just a fellow breakin the law"

Is this mo then you buggened for yeah, tell mommy I'm watching U2 closely. Wishing to be the freak in your dreams. Isn't it messed up, how i'm just dying to be here./ but I just looked up the lyrics and UI am so wrong.

My aunt told me that in order to play her old piano you first had to drop a few coins in between the slots of the keys. So for quite a few years I would ask my grandma for coins when I was over, and slip them in between and under the keys.

It took me quite a while to realize she was only kidding!

I used to believe…

In NeYo's song "So Sick" I thought he said "I'm so fat, I eat my problems on you" but he really says "i'm so fed up with my thoughts of you".

I used to believe…

When I was 3 I heard a song (I forget what it's called but I still hear it all the time) and I thought it said "I don't wanna weigh too much for the weigher."

I'm probably not alone in this, but I thought it was "Ooh, baby, baby, it's a wide world." Didn't really give it a second thought until last year when I got the real song.

I thought that in Paul McCartney & Wings 'Live and Let Die' it went 'What does it matter to ya/ When you got a job to do, you gotta do it well/.. You gotta give the other fella HEAD'... I remember wondering what Linda had to say about this, and why a star in McCartney's position (pun intended) should have to do that anyway...

I used to believe…

This from the Smashig Pumpkins' Bullet With Butterfly Wings

Misheard lyrics:
Betrayed desires, and don't be so gay.

Real lyrics:
Betrayed desires, and a piece of the game

I used to believe…

When my daughter was about 6 or 7, Ronnie Milsap had a song that said, "You tear my plans apart" she heard and sang it as, "You tear my pants apart."

Oh, my daughter is now 31 (almost) and found your site first. She knows I'm telling this on her.
