To Sammi, I also used to get the lyrics to 'Hey Dude' wrong. I used to think it said
"Hey dude, well I do what I can
But you treat me like a woman
When I pee like a man".
It actually says
"Hey dude, well I do what I can
But you treat me like a woman
When I feel like a man"
Made more sense my way.

When I was about 14 or so, me and my mum were watching Annie and she started singing along with the song "It's A Hard Knock Life" complete with what she thought were the correct lyrics: "it's a hard knock life for us, we're from the or-phan-age!"
7 years on and I still remind her about it whenever the song comes on, or whenever anyone mentions anything to do with Annie in general.
My mum turned 50 last year.

I used to think Ashlee Simpson's song L.O.V.E. went 'ello, 'ello, 'ello can you hear me. I had know clue y she was singing about phones...

my friend used to thnk the lyrics to the corus of Blue (Da Be Dee) song by Eiffel 65 was "i'm blue, if i were green i would die, if i were green,i would die" only to find that the real lyrics were " im blue a da be dee a ba dee" it wasnt until we were singing to it together that i told her the words were just random word fragments!

The lyrics "I believe in miracles" I thought were "I believe in Milko". I couldn't understand why a man would be singing about his milkman especially when in the next line he talks about him being a sexy thing. I know my milkman was not anything to sing about.

This is the belief of my friend and her sister when they were younger. They thought the The Cher song, Gypsies tramps and theives was, cheese cheese ham and peas!!! Hahahahah.

My friend used to think where it says, "making spirits bright," in jingle bells was:
"making pirates rise."
and about three seconds ago, she thought it was, "making spirts rise," and i thought it was, "making spirits high,"
very much to our surprise, we were BOTH wrong!! hahaha

In the Gorrilaz song "Clint Eastwood", I thought he sang
"I'm happy,
Feelin' glad
I got sunshine
Inabye (::whatever that means::)
I got new slides
But not for long
The future is comin' on."
"When it actually goes like,
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad.
I got sunshine in a bag.
I'm useless, but not for long.
My future is comin' on."

When I was about 6 I used to believe that a line in Abba's 'Take A Chance On Me' was 'You wanted to leave me there, afraid I would love a bear'. Actually it is 'You wanted to leave me there, afraid of a love affair'.

When I was in my early twenties (unfortunately, that was about 15 years ago), a friend of mine and I were huge fans of Jim Morrison and The Doors. One day as we were listening to the song "L.A. Woman", I sang along to the line that goes, "L.A. woman, Sunday afternoon". My friend was very surprised and told me that he had thought for the longest time that Jim was singing "idiot woman gonna have to do"! This was funny to me because 1) my friend was an even bigger fan than I was (and would seemingly have known this lyric, as it contains the song title; and 2) because Jim repeats that line several times in the song.

When I was young I thought that piano notes stood for words. Now I think about how could you play piano with them?

To 'I'm Adopted' - I thought the lyrics to 'Another One Bites The Dust' were actually 'another one buys the duster' - again, because of the 'dust-ah' emphasis!
I had this bizarre mental image to accompany it, too - all these men going down the street to a cornershop and buying those yellow dusters! Made sense to me!

When I was a child, maybe 6 or 7 years old, the music teacher at my elementary school showed my class a poster of an Elvis impersonator. "He dresses, acts, and sings exactly like Elvis," the teacher said.
Being a quiet kid, I though about this for several weeks, off and on, before I asked my father one day what Elvis was. "Elvis is an alien from outer space," my father told me. I was 18 years old before I realized he was joking!

In the song "Love Potion Number 9," I used to think the lyric about the "gypsy with the gold-capped tooth," was "the gypsy with the bold tatoo."
Still looking for the potion.... :-)

When I was Younger((ok, not that long ago! I'm 13)), In the song "Dude looks like a Lady" i thought instead of "Dude looks like a Lady" It was "Doin' it like a lady." Last year I found out from my friend how stupid I was!
I once believed that when it said "no loitering" it meant Kenny Loggins can't play or sing a song there, (i loved Keny Loggins back then).
then in 3rd grade i realized what it really meant...

for a long time this is what i thought part of fall out boy's Sugar we're going down was:
Tell Mommy i'm watching you two from the closet
wishing to be the freak **** in your sheets
this is how it really goes:
Don't mind me watching you two from the closet
wishing to be the friction in your jeans
i was pretty stupid....

When I was younger, I thought that Backstreet Boys & N*sync were the same band. I thought it was weird that they would have two different band names. Once N*sync's song was on, and I said outloud, "Why does N*sync have another name?"
My sister thought I was so stupid, once I explained to her that Backstreet Boys and N*sync were the same band.
