I used to think that the theme song for the Brady Bunch said "They were born and living all together" instead of "they were four men living all together." I could never understand why the lyrics made so little sense!

There's a song by Kenny Rogers that goes "take my hand, let's go through this door..." (at least that's what I think he's saying). For the longest time, I thought he was singing "let's go through the store". I wondered which store could it be. I also thought of that line every time I walked into the grocery store.

In the Blues Brothers song "Soul Man" they sing, "I'm a Soul Maaan..." I thought they were singing, "I was Sooo maaad!!"

top belief!

My dad used to sing the song "It's Raining, It's Pouring" to me when I was a kid. When he came to the part that goes "and he couldn't get up in the morning" I used to think he said "and he cooked it up in the morning". I had this scary mental picture of an old man bumping his head so hard that his head fell off, and then he cooked his OWN HEAD the next morning. Why, I don't know. I am laughing so hard right now while typing this that I have tears coming out of my eyes.

Around 1994 (I think), my friends and I were sitting around listening to oldies. The song "Little Deuce Coupe" came on, and one girl, Teresa, actually sang out loud "Little Best Cook". We all just looked at her in total shock. I mean, at this time our average age group was about 21, but come on, it doesn't sound like that to me. Thanks to Teresa for one of the funniest things I have ever heard!

I had a friend who thought that in Linda Ronstadt's song "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" she was saying "Oh, Lord, spit upon me."

You know the song "Papa Was A Rollin Stone'" by the Temptations? The verse where it says "And when he died all he left us was alone." I always thought he left them an loan (like a loan from the bank) Could never understand why they were so upset in that song.

I used to believe that the song that said, "every time you go away, you take a piece of me with you" said, "every time you go away, you take a piece of 'meat' with you"

I sang "Big Ol' Jet Airliner" as - "Bingo-Jet had a Light on".

Sometime around 1976 when I was about 6 years old, Elton John's "Benny & the Jets" was a popular radio selection. I can't be the only one who thought he was singing about a woman with "Electric Boobs". Boy, I thought that was nasty.

up until I was a teenager, I used to thing the words to the the song, "For Your Eyes Only" was, "For You're a Johnny." I had no idea what this meant.

I used to think that in the Bruce Springsteen song that he was saying "Is that you, baby, or just a bridge in disguise?", rather than "brilliant disguise". I also that that when Madonna said "Let the choir sing" in Like a Prayer that she was saying "Level crossing". Much better, I think.

I used to think the lyrics "'Ti' a drink with jam and bread" in the Do Re Mi song from the Sound of Music was "'Ti' a drink with German bread." Always wondered what German bread was.

In the Fat Boy Slim song instead of the lyrics "What we doing with the ..." it was "Fuck the women with the ...". I realised something wasn't right when they used the song for a kids art show on ITV.

I used to think that the 70's song 'Feelings' was actually called 'Ceilings', as it made more sense to me at 5 yrs old that someone should write a song about a ceiling rather than love!

There's a song by "The Jam" which contains the lyric "I lost an era daydreaming like I do". I thought they were singing "I lost an ear a day, dreaming like I do".
It sounds exactly the same either way.

A friend of mine, when we were in our early teens, used to like the Beatles song "Paperback Writer". She would sing it at the top of her voice, but when she got to the chorus she would sing "Take her back right now, right now, right now!"

I thought for ages that the line "Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me" in Bohemian Rhapsody was actually "Beelzebub has a devil for a sideboard, meeeeeee"

My older brother used to listen to the song Anarchy in the UK by the Sex Pistols. I used to love singing along with it, but when our parents heard I'd get in trouble, and so would my brother for letting me listen, as they didn't approve of the lyrics. This is why I always used to believe the bit in the theme song to The Wonder Years went '...and I'll try not to sing anarchy' instead of '...and I'll try not to sing out of key'
