I used to think that the beach boys song "Barbara Ann" was "Bob Bob Baran" and that they were talking about a guy in the song, which made perfect sense to me because for the longest time I thought that the Beach Boys were girls (becuase of their voices). I didn't find out it was Barbara Ann until one day I asked my mom when I was about 12 why a guy named Bob, Bob Baran would "lick someones hand" (I thought it was "...he licked my ha-a-and..") and she cleared me up....

In Harry Conick Jr's song "I just whisper your name" my cousin thought he said: "I just whisper Germaine"
She found it very strange that the song mentioned her uncle's name

In The Creed Song "What This life For" My Dad thought "we all live under the reign of one king" was "we all live under the reign of monkey".

There is a song by Hootie and the blowfish that goes something like: "let her cry, let her walk right out on me, let her see," then went on to say "let her go,and if the sun comes up tomorrow let her be." I thought that this was just a different version of the alphabet, and that it really went: "letter I, letter walked out on me, letter C,... letter O, and and if the bun is filled with sorrow, letter B" Made perfect sense to a six year old child!

When I was young, I thought that in "Chapel Of Love" by The Dixie Cups they said "Going to the jack-a-lantern, Gonna to get married" instead of "Going to the chapel, And we're gonna get married".

I used to think it was a hallowe'en song, and wondered why I never heard it on October 31st.

I used to believe that the Muse song Time Is Running Out said,
You'll buy me on the tenth of May.
The actual lyrics are
You will be the death of me.
Sang it to Matt Bellamy once.
He didn't hear me. :(

My friend Melanie was convinced that the lyrics to Scar Tissue by the Chili Peppers, instead of "With the birds we share this lonely view", was "at bubba's shed there's a lovely view".

In Benny and the Jets by Elton John, I always thought the line 'He's got eletric boots and a mohair suit' was 'She's got electric boobs and her mom has, too.' As a kid, I kept wondering what electric boobs could possibly look like, and what kind of sad genetic defect it was that could affect a whole family. The REALLY funny thing is that without really talking about it, my sister misinterpreted the same line the same way. What a warped family I come from

When I was in 7th grade, a boy i liked would visit his relatives in Georgia. I thought it was really funny when Frankie Valli's song came out "Mike's in Georgia" (though it was really "My eyes adored You"!)

The Elvis song Viva Las Vegas I used to think it said "people love bagels" and i used to think that song secret agent man was secret Asian man. I pictured a Chinese guy hiding under a bed somewhere. Also that one song 60s song that goes "you were my first love" still sounds like "you are my fish line"

When my daughter heard the 70's hit, "Drift Away", she thought they were saying, "Give me the Beach Boys & free my soul..." instead of "Give me the Beat Boys"!

My brother used to think the line, "I'll never be your beast of burden" in the Rolling Stone's song "Beast of Burden" was sung:
"I'll never be a pizza burnin'...."

My brother recently told me that he thought that in "Wind Beneath My Wings" the lyrics "I can fly higher than an eagle" were "I can fly higher than any gull", as in a seagull...I think the fact that he grew up amongst avid fisherman had something to do with this...
