I used to believe that tumbleweeds were tornados. I would see one whirling around the farm and would run in the house for safety.

I used to believe the stars, moon, sun followed us. I was mesmerized that no matter what, it was always moving right along with us (smile)

I knew Earth was round, but I thought that we lived inside the Earth. I was so confused at how the space shuttle could get though the sky. The day the shuttle took off I searched the sky for the hole that it must have left.

I used to think that tornados were HUGE scary potatos that had wind flying around them (like Taz the cartoon character), and that it had red beady eyes and fangs and would come after you. I would hide for hours when there was even a tornado watch, with my brother's football helmet on and my parents could never find me.

I gerw up within 100 miles of a portion of the Appalachian Mountains that were then quite sparsely populated and still heavily forested throughout. Numerous times I would ride through the mountains with my family, never seeing the ground on distant mountains, but just treetops. As a result, for a long time I thought that mountains were not big hills, but rather clumps of very tall trees.

my younger sister used to believe that smokestacks made the clouds in the sky...she actually believed this up until a few years ago and she is now going on 22.

i used to think the sun was a giant fireball like the ones from the mario brothers throw except a big one.

I used to believe that you would get a break from breathing when you slept and the reason our parents were always hurrying us to bed at night would be so that we were asleep when they changed the air in the world ready for the next day.

I used to think that the giant sprinklers in farmers feilds "made" strawberries...not sure how that would work, but I was convinced of it!

my dad would take me fishing at the coast and would tell me not to step in the foam that washed up on the shore because sailors used to pee over the side of ships and it would wash ashore

I grew up with my grandparents close to an Air Force Base, and I loved to watch the planes flying in the sky. I thought (until I was 9) that the jet trail behind the planes was actually where the planes were scratching the sky. When I started learning about the earth's atmoshpere in school I figured out the sky wasn't flat after all, but I still think about plans scratching the sky when I see one.

I used to believe that in the spring all the leaves would fall "up" from the ground and re-attached themselves to the tree, then they would turn green.

I believed that if I threw enough rocks in the frog pond behind our house, it would turn into a paved bottom pool. Hours and hours, tons of rocks later, it was still fit for ducks only.

My childhood best friend confessed several years ago that she had never realized as a kid that sticks came from trees. She thought they were just something you find on the ground, like rocks.

When I was about 7 year old, I used to believe that stars were actually made of glass and could break if meteor hit them. Then one night I found a piece of clear plastic just behind my home door, and I was absolutely sure that I had just found a piece of a star...The piece was included to my "treasure chest" for a long time but I lost it at some point.

I used to believe that on the rare occassion when it rained while the sun was still shining, the sun would get wet and drip and set fire to anything it drips on which

When I was a small child my family - specifically my older brothers and sisters had me convinced that snow was a different color in each state of the country. For example, Vermont had blue snow, New Hampshire was green, etc. Of course, every time it would snow, I would beg my parents to go see the colored snow in the other states because all I ever got to see was New York's snow which was white! Go figure!
