One time wheen I was a kid, I farted so loudly that my mother said, "Gee, did I hear thunder?". It seems like years thereafter that I actually thought that thunder was caused by somebody somewhere farting very loudly!
One day, I was reading a juvenile novel, and the hero passed through a cloud. To his confusion, and mine, it wasn't a pleasant experience: the cloud didn't hold him, nor was it like fluffy cotton candy. Instead, he passed right through the cloud, which was full of water == all wet and rainy! yuck! I was very disappointed after realizing that I could never sit on a "soft fluffy cloud," and wished I would have never learned the truth!!
My boyfriend used to think that it couldn't be windy unless it was cloudy- because of all the kids books where the clouds have little faces and are blowing leaves off trees etc.!
My aunt has told me that when I was a young child she mentioned something to me about the crickets chirping at night. I was astounded. Apparently I said to her, "Oh. I always thought that was the stars!"
I used to believe…
the scientific mind i was ...the rain falling in drops got me thinking. i figured out the solution though..gods must have a sheet with holes laid, over which they poured water in buckets...ths the rain for you.
When I was younger I believed that the weatherman actually decided what the weather was going to be. I couldn't understand why he didn't make it sunny all day and then rain all night!

I used to believe that it rained when God was upset and that all the birds lived together in one big house.
Watching the weather forecast on television, I used to believe that Min and Max were the names of the weatherpeople and that they would each have a guess as to how many degrees it would be the next day. I could never understand why Max's guess was always higher than Min's and decided it was because he was a boy and had to outdo her every time.

When I was about six i had a pen pal in Colorado. I thought that because they didn't live in a shoreline state they had never seen water before so I would go down the street to the beach and put some water in bags and mail the water to them, attemting to explain what it was.
I had a friend when I ( and she ) were 14, argued vociferously over the fact that she believed the Earth had four suns. Her argument hinged on the fact that 'How else could the sun in Spain be so much hotter than England?' No amount of reasoning would convince her otherwise. I wonder if she has changed her mind yet?
When I was little, my mother told me that if you held a buttercup (flower) under your chin and your chin turned yellow, it meant that you liked butter. I remember my friends and I always holding up buttercups to our chins and saying, "Do you like butter?" Little did I know it was just the "reflection" of the yellow flower making your chin yellow!
once my sister told me that for ever sweet wrapper or any kind of litter i dropped on the floor, a third world country would get that little bit hotter.
i felt so guilty and got stressed when my friends dropped litter.
god knows what posessed my sister to tell me this.
When I was little, I used to believe that God had a laboratory in heaven where he controlled the weather. He would concoct different potions that would make different types of weather--rain, snow, sun, wind, etc.--and he would just pour them onto earth, and that was how weather was created. I used to believe he spent all day in the lab just creating weather.

When I was young, I thought that the sea had a giant plug and that you could let out all the water. I was convinced I'd seen it on a nature programme
When I was young playing in the garden in the summer, I heard my mum say that the lettuces had gone to seed. For quite a few years I thought that lettuces ran away to sea when they got big.
i used to believe that dead cows were hidden in all long grasses. for some strange reason i was petrified of touching a deceased cow in any way....but i could eat beef. :)
I believed that if the clouds stopped moving we would all fall off the earth. I used to lay on my bunkbed watching to make sure they were still going past and imagining how much it would hurt if I fell onto my ceiling.....
