I used to believe that if you saw the first star of the night and said "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight" your wish would be granted. I thought you could trick it too, pretend that you only saw one star even if you'd seen more.

When I was little I asked my grandmother what a certain tree in her yard was called. She said it was a "Crate Myrtle Tree." I thought she said a "Great Turtle Tree." I constantly climbed it looking for tiny baby turtles. To this day I still call it the Turtle Tree even though I know better.
Ok this isn't mine... my sister used to believe that a tornado was a giant potato that came out of the ground. She thought that it would rumble out of the ground and roll over all the houses and things. She was always so scared when someone said that a tornado was coming. She would ask why everyone didn't just stop growing potatoes so then we wouldn't have the problem and no one had any idea what she was talking about. I guess potato and tornado sound the same. LOL
I used to believe that thunder was god playing the drums and lightning was when a lightbulb in gods house burnt out, and it would flash. Then when I got a little oler, I thought that thunder was clouds banging together.
