Every year when I was young my family would go on vacation to a lake. When out on a row boat fishing with my brothers, I would think you could catch more fish if the lake was half empty. I would use a pail and scoop water from one side of boat and dump it on the other. Hence emptying one side of the lake.

When I was very young, I asked my mother what thunder was, and to this day (I'm 38) I still picture this when it thunders:

"It's God playing with his marbles."

Whenever there was a storm I was terrified that lightning would jump through the windows and kill me. I believed drawing the curtains was the only thing to stop this, and i made my mum close all the curtains in the house.

when I was about 4 or 5 I thought that if you stayed outside during a thunderstorm the wind would wisk you off into the clouds so you could eat them! lol!I was disappointed when my mom made me come inside the house!

I thought that aeroplane vapour trails were the cause of clouds. I think my mother told me at some point that the stuff that came out of the back of a plane was water vapour, which is what clouds are made from, and I interpreted this to mean that that was how all clouds were made. That and the cooling towers of a power plant near my home. I didn't think it was there specifically to make clouds, I just thought they were a side effect.

I used to be afraid that the moon would fall out of the sky and come crashing thru our roof.

When we used to go on holiday, my mum would point out the "wild flowers" in the countryside as we drove past. Assuming them to have large teeth like "wild" animals, I would lower in my seat a little and lock the door.

At night when I would be driving in the car with my mom, no matter where we went, of course the moon was there. I asked my mom why and she said it follows you everywhere so you can see. I hated this so I would get mad at it and yell "STOP FOLLOWING ME!" I remember once I even refused to leave the house because the moon wouldnt leave me alone.

I used to belive that the cooling towers at power plants were "the cloud makers" and that if it was a clear day they were slacking off.

You know how people tell young children that when it rains, god is crying? Well, when I was young, I believed that when it rained, it was the clouds peeing! Needless to say, I never went out in the rain without an umbrella.

Once when I was about 5, I asked my older sister ( Who was only about 8)
what clouds were. She told me once she was in a plane and somehow opened the window. She said it felt fluffy and tasted yummy....I admit I believed her at the time!

When I was little I asked my mother what made the wind blow. She told me that the trees made the wind blow. Sure enough, whenever it is windy out side, I could see the trees waving their branches so that we could enjoy the breeze. As far as I know....she was right.

I used to believe…

sometimes my family would drive by big factories with pollution billowing out of them. i thought they were cloud factories, and whenever there was a drought, they'd just produce some clouds, so it would rain!

When i was younger my grandmother told me that when it rained, all the angels up in heaven were having a washing day and pouring their water over the clouds! I still think that it is a realy nice way to picture rain

I used to believe wind came from trees. And when it was really windy, the trees were really mad.
