When i was little, my grandparents had a weeping willow tree in their yard. And i always asked them why it was called a weeping willow . And they told me that weeping ment crying. So when i was allowed to go outside and play i would always run up to the tree and hug it and say don't cry be happy. My grandparents always were confused why i did it until i told them one day when i was 14. I relized it wasn't crying.

For the longest time I believed that black holes were giant people who like toothpaste, and if you used their favorite flavor- bubble gum- then they would come to get you and destroy the Earth in the process. I still can't stand the smell of bubble gum toothpaste.

My mum used to tell me that thunder was Jesus moving the furniture around in heaven to make more room for people, and lightning was god switching the toliet light on and off to tell people to hurry up, as there are not enough toliets for everyone because of all the people.

When I was younger I used to think that because the sun was made of fire, the moon was the opposite and was made of ice because of its colour sometimes, and I thought that when it rained, it was the moon melting!

My dad once told me that there was a man that went to the moon and that he got stuck. Then he said that the man wanted to tell his family he was ok, by making lumps on the moon in the shape of a smiley face (coz it looks like there is one).

i used to believe that land was floating like surfboards from this i concluded that with a good push we could collide with other countries. after my brother saw the film Jaws and explained it to me in great detail i then believed that sharks could burst up through drains and cracks in the pavement and needless to say, have avoided all cracks and drains since.

When I was little, I used to think the moon was a reflection of the earth...that somehow outer space was some sort of huge "lake" and whenever we looked at the moon, we were somehow looking at our own reflection. I had a lot to learn.

We (me and my brother) didn't realise that the ocean was salt water...until our first trip to the beach, when we both raced in, then raced out again, spitting and crying.

When I was little, like 7 or 8 years ago when I was 4 or 5, I used to visit Nags Head, North Carolina each summer with my whole family. We would always rent a 2-story house that was within walking distance of the beach and it always had a jacuzzi (we didn't always rent the same house). I remember hearing in the news one summer that a girl around 14 or 15 had been in her jacuzzi and started to like go under and swim around. On the news it had said that she had gotten sucked under and had drowned.

Being the small child that I was, I thought that she had been sucked down the drain, never to be seen or heard from again. This scared me very much and I never swam around in a jacuzzi for like 5 years. I was scared out of my wits that I would get sucked down the drain. Thus, my fear of drowning for years after this.

Now, at 12 almost 13 years old, I know that this was not what had happened to her and that her hair had just gotten caught in the filter, which made her drown.

I feel so stupid. :)

When I was 3 or 4, my father carried me outside at night and I caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights dancing around in the sky. I thought it was a ghost and was so scared that I always closed my eyes when I had to go outside in the dark.
