I used to believe that when a very thin crescent moon appeared in the sky, it was a clipping from one of God's fingernails or toenails, slowly falling down from heaven.

when i was little i used 2 believe that the moon was following us when we drove
It only happened one time, but when I was 5 years old, there was an earthquake in California in the morning(it was in 1987). I remember waking up and being really scared not knowing what was happening, cause that was the first earthquake I had experienced and I thought that King Kong was on the loose and shaking the apartment building me and my mom were living in.
When I was little, I was afraid of thunder and lightning, cause I used to believe that during a thunderstorm, God and the devil were in a fight; God being the lightning, the devil being the thunder. I would picture God zapping the devil with the lightning and the devil getting real mad and throw a temper tantrum and that would cause the thunder.
There was an old Earthworm Jim episode that said that the universe was contained within a giant snowglobe. I believed it and refused to shake any snowglobes for a few years because I thought it would be killing a bunch of innocent aliens.
I remember thinking, for some strange reason, that a "sun set" was a day glo set of folding chairs and a card table. Unfortunately my internal monologue is no less confusing at 29...
From the ages of 5-13 I always thought that there was a door to the universe, because I just couldn't make sense of the fact that it was never ending. I thought there were loads of 'rooms' full of galaxies and planets.
my church told me that if you believe in God, you may move mountains. i used to sit in the backseat of my car andfocus really hard on the hills trying to make them move.
When I was about 8, I was climbing in a maple tree in the yard. Then I saw that some of the leaves had red bumps on them. I thought that the disease could be contaigous from trees to people. I was so scared that I jumped out of the tree without looking down.

I used to believe that rainbow was a color.
When i was a little girl,I used to believe that people went skiing on the moon.It seemed to me that the moon was a perfect place for skiing, and I could even see the mountains covered in snow.Still,it never occured to me to even imagine how those people got there.Hm...I begin to wonder...
It was obvious, thunder was the sound of God having the coal delivered direct into the coal cellar, and the lightning was sparks being struck off the coalhole cover if the coalman kicked it accidentally.

When I was in first grade and told how HUGE the stars were and how far apart, I couldn't figure out how all that could get into my little eye.
When I was little, I was always happy to have the top bunk so that in case a volcano erupted nearby, then I would be safe from flowing lava.
I grew up near Chicago.
When I was about 3, my parents took me to a museum. There was a display that consisted of a small alcove with a large model of the Moon suspended in it. The walls of the alcove were pitch-black and dotted with stars. Dad asked me if I wanted to touch the Moon and feel the craters. I was really excited, until he lifted me over the railing so I could reach the model. I looked down and saw more blackness and stars, and concluded that I was being dangled over empty space. I freaked out, pleading with Dad to not drop me into outer space!
When I was about 5 my older sister told me that the earth moved and when people were walking they were really standing in the same spot and the earth was moving around them.
I could never understand how people could be walking in different directions at the same time, and what happened if you doubled back really quickly.
She denies all this of course.
As a child, I thought that the sun was a 'big ball of fire'.
I wondered why the 'fire' wouldn't go out permanently when the sun 'fell' into the sea every evening.
And if the sun DID fall into the sea, why was the sea not the source of fried fish ?
This belief came from living on the sea front :)
