I learned in the first grade that the Sun was a star just like all the other stars, only it was MUCH bigger.

I used to believe that sticks and tawigs had feelings and Iused to cry when they snapped in half!

when i was a kid, my dad told me that there was two kinds of ice, tame ice and wild ice. The tame ice was the icecubes in the freezer, and the wild ice was the ice forming on lakes etc in the winter.

I used to believe that it rained worms, because the sidewalks were always covered with them after a rainfall.

Someone told me about walking on clouds whe I was young. naturally, I belived that was possible. But the clouds never came so close so I could try. :-(

I thought that when it was raining it rained all over the world! I also belived that it was dayeverywhere at the same time.

i used to think that the solar system was the only thing that mankind had seen, and that the universe "ended" with pluto

when i was a child i used to curse when it used to rain when i was on my way to school. the explaination my mother gave me for the rain was that god and his angels were doing the washing and the rain was when the water spilled out of the bath on them. funny enough i have passed it on to my children since. it is a nice idea though.

I used to believe that weather forecastors decided what the weather would be. When they forecasted rain for my area i thought they were delibrately being mean!!!

I thought that the map of England used on the weather forecast was the plot of land our house was built on. It never occured to me that it couldn't possibly be freezing and snowing out front and 5 degrees warmer and sunny out the back at the same time!

When I was little I used to think that the night sky was like a big cloth or curtain and that the stars were tiny holes in the fabric. These holes would let heaven shine through.

When i was little i used to think that when it was thundering and lightning it was all the dead Man United and dead Liverpool players having a game of football. Everytime there was thunder, Liverpool had scored and everytime there was lightning, Man United had scored.

I used to believe that rainbows got scared and went away if you went outside

When I was about 8 or 9 I asked my brother why there were always big storms at the Cape of Good Hope (I think we had been watching some adventure film about Pirates). He proceeded to give me a long and detailed explanation. Apparently the Atlantic Ocean was actually 32 feet higher than the Pacific Ocean. Where the two Oceans met, this large gap resulted in violent crashing of waves as the waters came together.
Completely plausible and beleived by me for many years.

When I was little I lived close to a nuclear power plant which had these enormous cooling towers. One day we drove past it and there was all this white smoke coming out of the huge chimneys. My mum told me it was where they made clouds and I believed it until I was like, ten or something!

When little, I used to think the "groynes" (sea defences) at the sea-side were all broken down ships, that had landed on the beach at regular intervals..
