I used to believe as a child that t-storms (aka thunderstorms) where actually tea bags falling from the sky.
At the age of 4 , I thought , as we drove by the industrial section of town (e.g. potatoe chip factory), in the midst of winter billows of beautiful white steam flowed out of many pipes creating cloud like billows. Consequently , I thought these were cloud factories.
I used to think that the people who went around saying the world would end soon actually knew what they were talking about. They had the world ending before I had a chance to grow up and it scared me. I would pray and ask God not to end the world until I had a chance to become an adult.
I have always been terrified of water and what was in it. I used to be afraid to take a bath because I thought something might come out of the drain and get me. I had learned about sharks in school and how the water we use comes from the oceans and rivers in the same day. So I imagined sharks and other fierce biting fish swimming around in a "well area" under our house... I wouldn't go near the drain thinking they would stick their heads in and bite my toes off. I also never learned to swim because my brother told me the fish loved "kid toes". Since I usually couldn't see in the water I wouldn't go in it. I still have this fear....even though I know I no longer have "kid toes" and that fish never ate them.
I also wouldn't drink water from the bathroom sink while the toilet was flushing... I was scared the dirty water would take the wrong path and come out in my cup.

When I was 5 I used to think that water was made from everything that went down the drain, so I wouldn't drink it because it really grossed me out. It wasn't until my Dad told me that water was pure and that God made it for us that I could drink it again.
I also believed that the ocean froze in the winter time; frozen waves, foam and all. I grew up in NJ and we would never go to the ocean to look at it in the winter time; I thought it was because it was too dangerous being frozen.
On a dreary late winter day, my mother remarked that, "Spring is just around the corner." I was so excited! I ran down to the corner and looked down the side street, truly expecting to see sunshine, green grass and flowers.
I used to think that the planets were really expensive airplanes, and they all had rings which were the decks to the plane. I couldn't wait until I was older and rich enough to travel on a planet. And I thought everyone would go out on the decks as we sailed through the sky, to have drinks and snacks.
My daughter (who is currently 5) believes that when the moon is in anything other than in it's full stage that someone broke the moon
I used to think the Earth rotated really really fast and that we just didn't notice because of our atmosphere. I thought that's how gravity worked too - that we were stuck to the ground because of the spinning
When I was little, I used to believe that wind was caused by whales flapping their tails way out in the ocean.
I used to believe that all hot water came from special places underground, and that the world's supplies of hot water were dangerously low. I believed this because mum would always say 'Don't waste the hot water', but she'd never say 'Don't waste the cold water'...
Shortly after I got my first pair of glasses (I was 7), I woke up at night and looked out the window to see the night sky FILLED with big luminous globes of light. I was convinced it was an alien invasion until I put my glasses on to see better and realized they were stars.

I used to believe that thunders and lightings were coming from the God Zeus (according to the ancient greek mythology) when he was angry, because modern greeks believe in Jesus, instead in him !
I was 3 years old when I had to fly from Athens to Venice. During the flight I was looking at the clouds out of the window, wondering where people find so much cotton to cover the sky.
