3,307 beliefs in this area

my sister and i used to believe that the round bales of hay wrapped up in white plastic (to protect them from rain) were actually the harvest of a marshmallow farm...we still laugh about that to this day when we drive by!

I used to believe that sunglasses actually blocked the sun. I got a pair of sunglasses when I was 6 and promptly went outside & stared right at the sun. I ran inside & told my mom that my sunglasses were broken!

When they said tornados I thought they were actually giant tomatos. Everytime someone would talk about a tornado coming I'd envision a gianto tomato looming in the sky. Then when they said that a barn was demolished or hit by a tornado I'd think that the tomato came down and crushed the barn. I always wondered why there was no tomato seeds/bits in the wreckage.

You're never going to believe this one! When I was two years old my area was going through a tornado season. The news was full of pictures of the destruction. For some reason, I pictured a tornado being a giant, red, tapered tower with a clock on the top and pointy machine parts sticking out the sides. It would sway from side to side as it moved and made a large, robotic "WOOWOOWOOWOOWOO" noise similar to the tribal ones kids make when they're playing cowboys and indians. The strangest part is, I was only allowed to watch Disney cartoons, Barney, Looney Toons, Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers etc. at the time. Where this maniacal "tornado" came from is way beyond me!

I used to believe that we lived inside of the Earth, not on its outside surface. I always wanted to feel the inside edge.

My friends and I used to volunteer at the court house, well they always have water for you to drink and somehow the conversation came up where on of my friends was talking about the ocean. My friend goes on to say you better taste the water in the pitcher because it has been sitting there for awhile and the other girl says, "Yeah you wouldn't want to drink stale water, thats why the ocean is so salty." We were 16 years old and my friend thought the ocean was salty because the water was stale.

I used to believe that when the leaves on the trees fell off in the winter, it ment the tree was broken. I would always say,"The tree is broken!"

I used to believe that albino people came from lightning storms (from the movie Powder), so if a pregnant women got hit by lightning she would give birth to an albino baby

when i was a child (of course)i used to believe that the sea is salty because God throws bags of salt into it.

i used to believe that when the sun shines through gaps in the clouds the sunbeams were souls from graveyards going up to heaven.

We lived out in the country, and to get to the highway and into town we had to pass a papermaking factory. When I was 8, every time we passed by I would ask what stinked, and my mother would say "The plant." So for the next two years every time we went to town I would stare at the woods opposite the factory looking for a giant purple spotted plant belching out clouds of stench.

I used to believe that anything that got sucked up by a tornado stayed up there until a hurricane came and put everything back.

When I was about four, I thought we all lived *in* the Earth, that the sky was a giant solid dome that had a door for astronauts to get through and that all the pictures of Earth from space where just pictures of the outside of the sky dome.

When I was 6 years old, I thought that if I'll tie about 100 baloons from a rope and I'll get on the other end of it, I'll fly. The single thing that didn't made me jump from a building with 8 levels was the thought: what if there are too many ballons and they'll take me up in the sky and I'll never go down again?

I used to believe that clouds were made from the exhaust from airplanes. So when it would be a really hot day I would think, "Why don't they fly a bunch of planes so it'll be cloudy and cool off?"
