Until 9 years old my sister used to believe that power stations (power plants to you yanks) were machines to make clouds. She never understood, when told how a power station worked, why it was necessary to make all that electricity at the same time.

i thought snow was gods dandrift

I used to think that clouds would part over roads during snow storms. The clouds around the edges of the holes would group together and snow more, therefore creating the big piles of snow along the roads

When I was 4 or 5 there was a stormy night where my mom got us up out of bed to take shelter. She turned on the radio and they were saying "This is a tornado warning." I figured that a tornado warning was the authorities warning the tornado that it better not come into our city.

There was a relatively short period of time in my childhood where I was very paranoid about quicksand. I would avoid light spots in black pavement (small rocks, presumably) in order to not be sucked into quicksand!

I used to believe I was the only one who could see the moon during the day because no one else ever talked about it.

My mom told me one day to never go into a corn field, because when people go in they get lost and never come out!

Up until very recently my girlfriend believed that "the trees make the wind". It came to light because I live on a lake and we were talking about how its frequently windy there; she was convinced it was because it was surrounded mostly by trees.

when i was little, my dad used to take me for evening rides in his motorbike quite often. and every time i looked at the sky and if i saw the moon, i would wonder why it was following us. i observed this for sometime before i asked him: "dad, why does the moon follow us all the time?!"

One cold windy day my teenage daughter asked me,"So Mom, is the windshield factor how cold your windshield gets when the air hits it or what?"

When I was about two or three, or so the story goes, I'd seen a bit on Sesame Street where they'd shown a time-lapse film of grass growing. The sight of those tendrils wiggling their way out of the ground so terrified me for a while I refused to walk on grass at the park. I though that the grass would grow so fast it would grow through my feet.

As a child I used to think that clouds were big pillows of white fluff and that was why fireworks night was never on when it was cloudy because it would set the sky on fire. The concept of someone accidentally burning the clouds scared me because I knew the firemen's ladders wouldn't reach that high up and I thought the fire would just keep going till bits of burning cloud fell out of the sky. My imagination was quite vivid like that!

I used to believe clouds became cotton candy at sunset because they turned pink

I used to believe that whenever it rained it meant that God was washing his dishes or was crying because he had found out i did something bad.

My cousin told me that the middle of a dandelion tasted like butter. We would sit in her grandparents field by their house and pick them all day long. I always hoped it would taste like butter but it never did!

when i was younger i used 2 think that the whole world might be a toy like a snowglobe and sometimes the owner would shake it up and it would snow or rain or get windy

I used to like Neopets when I was 11 until I was around 14, and I believed that the brightest star in the sky at night was Neopia. Now I know it's Venus...I always knew it was Venus until that short time I thought it was Neopia.
