Once in second grade, (I thought) a teacher told me "If you don't throw your trash away in the trash can, the world will stop spinning." I certainly didn't want that to happen! Her scare tactic worked good. At 24, I still make sure my trash gets thrown away properly.

Once when I was staying with my Grandparents I came in after running into some bull nettle (which is similar to poison ivy but a harry plant on the ground) and my Grandmother told me to "piss on it" and it was the only way it would stop itching. I thought she meant pee on the plant, but luckily I didn't. i was afraid I'd get it on my butt

when i was younger and i asked why there was thunder and lightining, my mother told me everytime it did it, it was god and the devil having an argument...so I was wondered, hmmm what are they fighting about this time when there were storms.

Although I should have known better, and initially had doubts, my older sister had me absolutely convinced that fleas came from dandelions: that they hatched out sometime when they turned from yellow petals to downy fluff.

Because of this, I hated dandelions.

My infant school has a big hill in the playground and i thought it was just grass that was put over a giant who was sleeping. It was always a thrill to climb up there and roll down but you had to be careful not to wake or anger the giant (only certain people were allowed up there i thought)
This may sound stupid but I later met up with a randomer from the internet who was afew years older than me in my school and she believed the same thing!!

My parents had a science background, and gave us lots of kiddie science books, so I knew pretty well how the world worked. However, I was scared of things that really COULD happen but didn't understand they were unlikely. For example, when mom would take us to see kid's plays at the local performing arts complex, I was convinced that the platform in the ceiling where the huge speakers and stage lights were was going to fall and flatten us. I was also convinced that when we drove through a canyon on the way to go camping that a huge rock would fall from above and crush our car (I was not scared of a flood or landslide, both of which happen in canyons, but just a huge random boulder).

When I was little, I though that some cactuses were soft because of the white fuzzy effect made by the many spines on the plant, I believed this until one day I decided to pet it.

I used to belive thunder was the angels bowling. Whenever there was a big clap of thunder an angel had made a strike. I always celebrated for the angel. I would envision the angel doing the disco to flashes of lightning.

When my mom was little her dad was telling her about tornadoes. Apprently my mom didn't know what a tornado was. She actually believed a tornado was a bird. She asked her dad that if a tornado came through the window, could she shoot it? He laughed and said that she could. but it wouldn't help any.

When i was younger my house used to be lined by trees going down the drive way. My dad would tell me this so i wouldn't go past them and go into the road. May i re-mind you i was only 3 or 4 at the time so i had a baby sitter and me and her were walking down the drive way to go to her house. I started screaming my head off and we had to turn around and have my older neighbor(next door) drive us across. :pppp

My dad listens to rock, so he used to tell me that when it thundered, it was God bowling against the sinners. You know, like the song. Angels and sinners play every day, every night. To this day I don't understand the true meaning of that song.

I used to believe that thunder and lightning was caused not by the discharge of electicity from the clouds to the ground, but rather it was caused by dragons fighting

I live in West Virginia where a lot of our roads had to be cut out of mountains and there are signs all over the place that say "falling rock" to warn drivers that rocks sometimes slide off the sides of these mountains and hit cars. My grandpa told me told me Falling Rock was an Indian, so I believed that these signs meant an Indian reservation was nearby......There are no Indian reservations in WV that I know of......

When, I was a child, I used to believe that if I went to the top of a montain, you would fall in the space.

When I was a little girl, we went to a public pool that has fish in it. we drove a good 200 miles to go swim at this pool, and right as we get there my grandma tells all of us grandkids, "If you get in the water the little fishes will swim up your butt!" needless to say Nobody went swimming that day!

Until I was about 5 or 6 I used to believe that the area of the moon that you can't see when it's not full just wasn't there. I learned it from Bugs Bunny cartoons.

When I was little, I used to believe... When the sky turned pink, the "lady" clouds were putting on makeup and the "boy" clouds were getting ready. The pink in the sky was created by the pink blush that the lady clouds were putting on. They were getting ready to go to the ball.

I used to believe that rain was actually the tears of Angels crying...

and I always wondered what made all the Angels cry at the same time.
