Every night, to explain the darkness, I thought someone put the world in a box.

All the stars were air holes.

When i was little i believed that the loud wind you heard was a big monster coming to eat us all! So when i heard that i would run to the house. 2 years ago i figured out that that wasn't true. And I'm 15!

I specifically remember looking out at the sky on our porch one night...it was cloudy, but the clouds blended in with the sky, and so I figured it was just a starless sky.

So I turn to my grandmother, and tell her "The stars ran out of batteries!"

Later on I found out that stars did not run on batteries at all, but it was fun to think while it lasted.

When i was younger, i believed that the first 2 people grew out of the ground. But now i believe in evolution.

I used to believe…

That the earth was inside a gigantic envelope, and the stars were pinholes in the envelope.

When I was young, I read a book that said the world was 80% covered in water. I would look at a map and was always confused since it didn't look like it. Finally one day I decided that the reason was because the back of the map must have been covered in water and nobody put it on the map since there wasn't any islands there!

When i was little my parents used to tell me that the factory chimneys that had all the smoke coming out of them were cloud-makers.

They said when the clouds are white, it makes the day nice but when the clouds are grey, it's going to rain and storm.

I was always a bit worried when there were grey clouds that it would rain too much, the world would fill up with water and we'd all drown.

As far as i know that hasn't happened yet.

Once I learned that plants "breathed" carbon dioxide and "exhaled" oxygen, which is the opposite of what us humans do, I remember sitting in front of one of our house plants for hours trying to time my breathing to be opposite of what I thought the plant was breathing, so we would just be helping each other out.

I used to believe before God made things everything was an ocean and when he made the earth he made the ocean turn into rock and dirt, and the mountains were waves. And when I was little me and my cousin tried to dig to china and we dug into the mulch and we saw those little white beads you get in plant dirt and we though they were the clouds in china.

When I was young I used to believe that the weather-man from tv talked to God and that's how he knew how the weather was going to be the next day.

We were driving to Florida for Christmas, and I knew it was warm there. I thought there was an actual line where the snow stopped, and the sun and grass began. I was very disappointed to see that it got warmer gradually as we drove South.

I used to think that I controlled the strength of the wind outside according to the strength of my breath, and that if I would breath or blow really hard, it would get windier...it worked I tell you!

I used to believe that if you waited long enough (the longest I ever waited was 2-3 hours), trees would talk to you and tell them about how life has changed over the years. I also though that the rings on the trees meant how long they'd been married to another tree.

When i was little i used to believe that i could suck up a tornado in a vaccuum if it came in my house.

I believed when a friend told me that the glossy leaves on the bush in our front yard tasted like candy. The red ones were cinnamon and the green ones were mint. I finally tried tasting one day...they didn't.
