When I was in PreSchool we got the "Stop, Drop & Roll" lesson. I wasn't paying attention and for the longest time I thought this meant that if there was a fire at all I had to "Srop, Drop & Roll." I coudln't figure out why we shouldn't try to get away or to get help. I thought I had to roll on it to put it out.
I used to believe that you could get to wonderland by standing behind a big tree...
I believed that when it rained it was only raining on my family.... that there was only one cloud above our house or car just following us wherever we would go. I used to think that I would give anything just so the damn cloud would go away and rain on some other family. LOL!!!!
I grew up in New England, and every winter I'd notice a correlation between snow and ice on nearby lakes. I thought it went like this: When the weather gets cold enough, you get snow. When that snows falls on a lake, it mixes with the water to make ice (like jello). I firmly believed until I was about 11 or 12 that ice could not appear without snow, and if it did, it just meant it snowed while I was asleep.

I was convinced that paper could only be made out of Birch trees (because they had white bark).
My mother always complained about the rain ruinning the pavimented roads and making holes in them. The idea that the water could make the holes sounded ridiculous, so I believed that when the thunders fell to the road, they made the holes.
Also, thats why I was very afraid when I was caught outside in a thunderstorm, regardless if I was in a car or in a building, the only place that was safe was my house.
When I was young, I believed everything my older sister told me. SO, when we visited Niagara Falls when I was 8 years old, I asked her if the falls ran all night. She told me they turned them off at midnight. And I believed her.
My mom taught kindergarten for many years, and when there was a pretty good chance of snow the next day, she'd tell them all to wear their pajamas inside out to make it snow. A lot of them believed her.
when i was 7 my mommy told me that thunder was God bowling. and that lightning was the flashy lights when you get a strike! 10 years later.. the other day, my boyfriend told my that thunder is god taking a picture of you, and the lightning is the lash. yeah, we're not 7 anymore!
My mother used to tell me that if you walk in the rain without an umbrella, you would get lice. I'm 30 years old now, but I still get a strange nervousness when I get caught without a brolly in the rain.

I know this is random, but I thought a cresent moon was God's toe nail clippings.
You know when you move around at night, look at the moon, and it looks like it's moving? Well I saw this when I was about 7 and thought it was following me personally and plotting against me... 0.o
In Mexico, the words "rocket" and "fireworks" can be used as synonymous. So, I USED to believe that fireworks could take us to the outer space and in traditional holidays, (where is common use fireworks), I didn't want to go out to celebrate because I was afraid that these "fireworks" take me to outer space and I wouldn't back to my home.
I used to think clouds were countries!
In my house we've always had a fig tree in our living room and when i was about 5 i noticed that if you pulled off a leaf or twig, a white liquid came out. After seeing me rip a few leaves off the tree to watch it 'bleed', my mother told me that if i touched the white stuff i would be poisoned and shrivel up like a prune. Seeing that my hands were covered in the stuff i instantly burst into tears, imagining myself slowly drying up into a human raisin and how i wouldnt live to see another day of kindergarden. Thankfully i survived, but i was convinced from then on that if i so much as came in contact with the fig tree again i would surely become a prune!
