When I was little I was terrified of thunder, so my cousin told me it was Jesus and God bowling...only we made it more elaborate than that. They were on a team against the Roman Gods (I had an obsession with mythology) and when Jesus won, the last bolt of lightening looked like a "J".

When I was a kid I used to believe we lived inside the earth. When I would look up at the sky I just saw it as the big blue dome that we found ourselves in. I think I didn't discover the actual truth until I was 7 or 8.

when i was little my mom would try to keep me busy while driving home in the car at night by telling me to look out the car window and watch the moon follow us home. i thought the moon actually moved along with the car for the longest time, and it made sense since the moon was there when we would get home.

When I was a kid, I used to think that corsages and boutonnieres were edible because you had to put them in the fridge and they looked like cake flowers.

I grew up in the Midwest, so every summer we wound up sitting under the basement stairs at least once due to a tornado watch or warning. I didn't have the slightest clue what a tornado was--I had heard the word and seen news footage of the wreckage they left behind, but I had never actually seen footage of a tornado. My five-year-old reasoning went something like this: "'tornado' sounds like 'tomato,' so it's probably something red and roundish... but it must also be big, and capable of destroying buildings." So, what's large, red, round, and has a tendency to smash through walls? The Kool-Aid mascot, of course! Every time I sat under those basement steps, I imagined a more massive version of the Kool-Aid mascot, stomping through town and booming, "Ohhh, yeeeah!" as he decimated trailer parks.

Despite the havoc he wreaked, I had no qualms about drinking his product.

When I was little, my parents told me that if I walked around barefoot during a storm I would get struck by lightning. I still make sure I always have somthing on my feet when there's a storm, just in case.

when i was younger i used to believe that the world was in the centre of the universe and that if you went to university you went into space and looked down to study the earth! lmao

i used to think that their was a specific set of clouds that would go over my town and when their werent couds they were sleeping in the forest at the edge of town

i used to think that the earth would be sucked into a black hole and all the planets and sun would come to and it would be a whole new universe

also i used to be really scared that an asteroid would hit my house and only my house

When I was like four I had this CD about dinosaurs and it had this game in which you had to save the dinosaurs from being hit by the comet. I was terrified of that game after I ran out of time on it and I became firmly convinced that a comet was going to hit the Earth in this day and age. I kept telling my parents we were running out of time and stuff. And then my mom saw a real comet (I think it was Hale Bopp) and told me to come look at the comet. I didn't want to but my parents wouldn't stop bugging me to. I was terrified to death of that thing and was SURE it was going to crash into Earth. After that I got over my fears though.

I used to think that when there was an Earthquake, the ground would always split open, so when the earth was shaking, it was just the earth growling.

i used to believe that pennies grew on trees on account that my mom told me that if i planted a penny, a penny tree would grow. im sure there is many pennies buried beneath my yard. and well....i know now that money does not grow on trees!!!

Flying Rocks - I had a baby sitter when I was 3-4 yrs old. She used to tell me to get my arm in the window so that I would not get hit by a flying rock. I still remember going for rides in the car with her to pick up the bigger kids from school. I would roll down the window in the back seat and stick my hand out the wind to surf the air. I still do it today. I never could understand why she thought rocks could fly. They did not have wings. What was she thinking.

I believed that that little black bit inside tulips (the stamen or whatever it is) was a spider that lived inside it. Each tulip had one, so I kept away from tulips because I didn't want the spiders to jump out and get me.
