I missed one day of 4th grade - the day the teacher explained to us that a hydroelectric plant was a factory that pumps water, not an actual green leafy plant. They had been showing us how plants pump water up their stems... seemed reasonable to me....

I used to believe that snowflakes were realy big because that the way they were in cartoons but then i moved to place where it snowed and i was wondering what was coming out of the sky and they told me it was snow i was confused lol but then i leared that i was wrong in the first place

I used to believe that you had to plant sprouts in order to get cabbage trees.. lol I know, I feel so stupid now!

When I was little, I used to believe that ANYONE could go to the moon, qnd that eventually EVERYONE had to go. In 1st grade, we learned about black holes, and I was sooooo terrified! They suck you up into this little tiny container and stretch you out so everyone will laugh at you when you get back! (so I thought) I was so worried that I ran to my mom and told her "Mom, I don't want to go to the moon! There are scary black holes up there, and I don't want people to laugh at me when I get back!" She was the one laughing, and I didn't understand why until I was around 9 or 10. God I was stupid!

when i was little, i remember this big orange flower growing in my yard, and i thought it was particularly ugly, so i showed my cousin and he thought it was ugly too. we were then convinced that the flower had AIDS and we would get it if we touched it....sad i know.

When he was little, my dad thought that clouds were patches of leftover smoke from cannons being shot in the Civil War.

I used to believe that thunder was God moving his furniture; rain was God taking a shower; and lightning was God switching his lights on and off.

When I was a kid I believed that dark places were pieces of the night that didn't go away when the sun came up, because they were caught behind doors and in closets, etc. I thought that the darkness grew up out of the world when the sun started going down. I was very scared of it.

I heard about volcanos originating from cracks in the Earth's surface. I was scared that the cracks in my driveway at home would turn into a volcano, I would frequently check them to see if they looked any bigger.

My little sis used to think that it was god peeing when it rained. I wonder what she thought he was doing when it was windy?

I used to think that after a big rain you can hear the corn grow. I thought it would be a squeeking noise! I would sit by the corn field and breathe very softly.... listening. It was just the wind, but I really thought that was what growing corn sounded like.

I used to look at the big dipper question mark and think why everything in space looks still, yet moving somehow...where are they going..or what holds all the things in space? I was most awed when I learned our planet earth like is moving across space and we are not falling off of it somehow? Also I believed the shooting stars are actually bodies moving off to another space-time dimension!

When I was young, I thought the sky was made out of concrete, aad that everyone painted it blue. Night came because, gradually, people painted it black again so everyone could sleep. Shooting stars were when people ran across the concrete with yellow paint. I was sitting in the middle of Science class one day, and Sir was explaining about night and day, and then I shouted out "So the sky isn't made out of concrete!" My friends have never let me live it down!

When I was quite young, I'm guessing about 6, there was a tornado warning in our county so we were in the basement until it passed. However since I was so young, I made a connection between tornato and potato. So I started wondering why a potato swirling around on the ground was so dangerous. I was picturing a large potato bumping into things on the ground!

I remember when I was in preschool how I thought the moon had a light inside it, which made it glow. I also imagined this great big field of dirt, and that's where the sun and the moon and stars would be when they're not in the sky.
