I used to think that snow was rain still in the bag.
I used to believe that butter came from buttercup flowers. One day in my backyard I picked up a dandelion since I thought for some reason all yellow flowers were buttercups and that they, like people, looked different from each other. So I ate the dandelion and spit it out immediately. It didn't taste like butter! I ran in to tell my mom about the flower and she told me it was a dandelion, not a buttercup. So, my mom took me back out and showed me some real buttercups. I grabbed a huge handful and swallowed them whole. Imagine my surprise when it tasted like the dandelion. Heh. My mom explained everything and boy did I feel stupid.
I used to believe that the planet Earth just like other planets is far way from us in the sky where we see stars and we live on a place with a ground and trees and everything else
When we were going to visit an Uncle, my Dad would bring rose bushes, peach trees, apple trees, and about anything else he could think of as a gift on each visit. I was proud of my Dad's green thumb and bragged about it at school. I told everyone that my dad even grew toilets, because Dad always told Mom to remember to bring the toilet trees.
A few years later I heard the word toiletries. I never told anyone, until now.
When my parents told me about the man on the moon I not only believed in him but actually thought I could see him and the craters I could see were what I reconned to be his face, They are a bit hazy and I sometimes thought I was getting him mad as it changed. I used to say mean things to the moon and decided I didn't like him.
i remember telling my mother one day when we were swimming in a lake that i thought it was so cool how water goes through you. lol she explained to me that it actually goes AROUND you. i was sorta bummed, i thought it was washing me inside and out. lol
For a very long time when I was younger, I was terribly afraid of thunder storms because I thought that thunder was the sound of the barrier between earth and hell being broken and that lightening was the spark of that barrier being broken. I thought I had to sit quietly and pray during thunder storms so that the creatures from hell that escaped through the broken barriers won't come and get me.
I once thought that clouds were solid because of cartoons. I thought thunder was formed by those solid clouds colliding with each other. Lightning was formed by people on the top of clouds starting fires and when another cloud crashes into the cloud that they are on, it produces an explosion that sends lightning to earth.
When I was about four, I took my first trip to the petrifying fountain in Knaresborough. There were quite a few small teddy bears in the fountain, turned to stone. I didn't realise that this wasn't NORMAL water, so I thought that if I were to get my favourite teddy wet, it would turn to stone.

i used to think if you stared long enough at the sun (until it looked blue) you could kill it
When i was about 5, i'd play barbies in front of the window because the sun beams would always shine on the carpet. So i made my barbie's go tanning in the sunbeams and i noticed that the sunbeams would go away and then come back and i looked out the window and see that the sun was still out but there were no sunbeams. My mom was sitting near me on the couch and i asked her "When the sunbeams go away, is the sun breathing?" and she said "yes" but i don't think she was really paying attention. So for the longest time i thought everytime the sun went away, it was inhaling and when it exhaled the sun came back. Stupid me, later i found out it was just a cloud in front of the sun.
When I was little I used to think of the night sky as a BIG blanket and the moon and stars where holes in the blanket and if you looked real close through the holes they called stars you could see shadowy figures going by.
I used to believe that beyond the visible limits of the sky there is a garden of wonders. In that garden everything good(chocolates, toffies etc) were available in limitless quantity. You had to take a rocket to reach that pIace.I thought that all the space explorers like Yuri Gagarin et all actually went to explore that garden & take a munch at the goodies.

I used to belive that if we could find the light switch that controlled the sun, we could control the world.
When I was young my parents told me and my sister that if we would hear a loud thunder...and see the lightning that there was made a picture from above.. so we had to make a big smile or funny face, for a picture. So if there was thunder and lightning me and my sister were staring out off the window...to get on the picture..with very silly smiley faces..haha..
I was about 4 when my mother told me the world was round. I then had this picture of a circle of terraced housed floating in space, with the sweet shop in the middle.
I used to think that whenever there was an eclipse and it was all over the news, the world was actually going to end. And I always was reliefed when it didn't and said that maybe next time they would. Nobody took the time to explain me that it was only temporary,
I used to believe that it was the trees that made the wind blow. I thought the wind would take me away if i was outside when it was blowing. One day I became so tired with all the wind that I told my father that he had to cut all the trees down.
