When I was at infants school one of the first things we did was grow mustard cress to make our own sandwiches. I never understood how they got the mustard into the cress while it was growing.
Similarly I always thought "egg and cress" sandwiches were "egg cress" and that was a different type of cress which they put eggs in while it was growing.
I still don't really understand mustard cress.

I used to believe that the man on the moon was the Quaker Oats man!
I used to hear doves singing outside where I grew up. But for some unexplained reason, I always believed that it was the clovers making that noise. I never understood how simple grass could make a noise like that!
when i was about 7 i read a book about these people who walked through a rhodedendren bushes (sorry if thats spelt wrong!!) and never came back out again because they found a different world in there. For years i was terrified of rhodedendren bushes thinking that i would be sucked into them and forced to live in another world!! i would like to meet the person who wrote that book!!

When I was little I used to think that sunflowers would eat me.
I used to think that grass only grew during the time people were standing on it. How else could I understand the shoe-shaped tufty bits in the lawn at home?
When it was storming, the thunder was God bowling, lightning was the fireworks when He got a strike, and rain was angels crying because they lost. I like to still think this.
When I was a kid, I used to believe that when lightning flashed in the sky, it was angles in heaven making a movie and the studio lights where flashing, when thunder boomed that it was god blowing and when it rained, the Virgin Mary was chopping onions and making God cry
When i was little my imagination was and still is very vivid. so i had a huge fear of Natural disatars and i would literally see lava flowing outside my house i used to get so scared to where i couldnt breathe.
I used to believe that we lived INSIDE the earth, and that if you traveled far enough, you'd eventually get to the shell. I always wanted to get to the edge and lean up against a big wall of sky!
When I was about 5 I thought that the clouds were cotton candy and when I got taller I would be able to pick it and eat as much cotton candy as I wanted. My brother told me that when it rained God and Satan were fighting over rice in a pot that when God won( which he always did) Satan would cry and throw over the pot and the rice and Satan's tears would mix and make rain.
I used to believe that the light switch in my room controlled the sun, and when I turned out my light before going to bed, the sun would go out too.
I used to believe that I lived in a town called Germany in a country called Earth, but I just could not figure out what planet I was on. I asked my mom what the name of the planet was and she replied "Earth" and I remember thinking that she was a total idiot. I just walked off and concluded that I was on Pluto, that being the only planet name I could remember.
I used to believe that I could order nice weather. This was something my sisters had put inside my head, but I kept on saying things like "Don't worry, I'll order some sun" and "If only my order gets through to the weather man" until I was about 8 or 9 years old. When my oldest sister then politely told me that it was all rubbish, my mother claim I said "Oh, I wondered if he didn't like me anymore" as the weather had been very wet the past month.
When I was little, I used to think that fog was made out of cotton candy. When ever it was foggy, I used to go out and try to eat it. It always dissapointed, becuase it tasted bland. it wasn't until I was 7 that my cousin told me it was water vapor.
I used to believe outer space scenery, with black background and shining stars is because there is "night" in space, and there's always "night" in space just because it lasts way more time that night on Earth, and after few hundred years then comes a "space day", when planets hover among clouds with blue sky in background. I also believed every planet hover incredibly high over "space ground" which exists in the bottom of universe and stretches into infinity in every direction, and if you fell off the spaceship, you would be falling down until you'd hit the bottom, which looks like giant desert.
