In grade two, a really gulliable girl in my class went on a holiday to nepal. She came back a few weeks later, and at show and tell she showed the class the piece of mountain she had bought. When I went home that afternoon, I begged my mum to take us to Nepal, so I could get a piece of mountain too. I thought that if I had some mountain, I could cover the world in lava. Then my mum told me that what that girl had brought back was only dirt.

I used to think that the moon was the sun when it was sad. So, whenever night came, I would feel bad for the moon, because I thought it was sad or scared!

So many seafoam stories! My mom told me seafoam was the result of dead, decomposed mermaids. I was completely horrified and grossed out, and my brothers tortured me over it for years.

When I was beetween the ages of like 9 and 12 I thought that if I jumped high enough (usually on my trampoline) I could convince Mother Nature to make it rain or become sunny. I thought that if I thought about it hard enough it would happen.

I used to believe a blizzard was an animal that lived outside in the snow. My Mother would worry and say things like "I hope your Father gets home soon, there's a blizzard outside" or "you can't go outside because of the blizzard." I would look out from a window in hopes of seeing that little blizzard.

When I was small I sat on the front door step one day and thought about how rain happened. I decided that God must have a row of taps in Heaven, which he turned on and off at will, and was thoroughly satisfied with my theory.

I used to believe that large industrial complexs were factories to manufacture clouds and that the chimney stacks were made so tall so the baby clouds could reach the sky.

When I was a child, I used to believe that humans had visited and lived on every planet in the solar system except Jupiter. I wonder-why not Jupiter?

Once, I was laying on my driveway with my sister and friend at night just looking at the stars and I got a good idea. I told my sister that we were getting tans, and if you layed there long enough you could get really tan. She believed me, and I finally set her straight last year.

I used to believe that the moon could make make beautiful. I'd lay on a tiny little part of my bed where the moonlight was and go to sleep with the moonlight on me. PS It didn't work.

I used to believe that when it rained, the people in heaven were all taking showers. I believed that they had showers made out of clouds, and that as they showered God would watch them making sure they didn't waste too much water. So rain drops were special, because they had touched the bodies of relatives who had already died.

When I was about 8 or 9 I asked my father why I couldn't drink sea water. "Because it is salty", he replied. To which I, as any child of my age would do, asked "why is the sea salty?".
His answer was as follows: "The sea is salty because there was a giant who was way out at sea having dinner when he knocked the salt off his table into the sea, and made the sea salty."
To me, this made perfect sence as a child, and of course satisified my insatiable curiosity.
When I was at school I, intent on demonstrating my new found knowledge, proudly told the other children why the sea was salty, and much to my dismay they laughed at me.....but, I was still positive for a few years later that there was a giant out there waiting for his dessert.

I used to believe that the foam that sometimes washes up on the beach was shark saliva...

I used to believe that if you yelled at the waves and called them threatening names, mocking their size etc, you could make them bigger. I'm sure people at surf beaches used to wonder why there was this little kid out their with her boogie-board screaming "is that all you can do? My little sister is bigger than that, you wimpy wave" at the ocean...

I used to believe that if I could somehow get the window of the aeroplane open, I would be able to jump up and down on the clouds which I imagined would feel like cotton wool.

When my mom would tell my it was raining cats and dogs, I thought I would need to put all my cats and dogs in a cage so they would not fall from the sky!

My pre-school class was going on a field trip to the potato farm, and my dad told me to look for the potato trees. I was firmly convinced that potatoes grew on trees until the bus pulled up at the farm. Boy, did my dad get an earfull when he got home from work.

I used to beleive that thunder was God bowling. The lightning was a result of hitting the pins so hard that they bounced and hit the lightswitch. We sort of went out of our way to avoid explaning the fact that the lightning(and lightswitch hitting) came before the crash.

I'd sort of like to know what people thought when they saw a bunch of little kids yelling at the sky, "Yay, God got another strike!" during a camping trip.

When I was 5 I always wanted to play out in the rain. My brothers told me that the rain awakened the trees and that they would catch me and turn me into a tree.
