There is a star cluster called the Hyadees (pronounced "HIGH-uh-deez"), which makes up the bull's face in the constellation of Taurus, the bull. My niece, Heidi, when she was a child, thought it was her very own star cluster, because "Hyades star cluster" sounds quite similar to "Heidi's star cluster'

I used to think that the sunset was the Sun seperating into the millions of stars in the sky. The stars would, of course, recollect again at sunrise to make the Sun again.

I remember this making perfect sense in my head at the time too :o)

I used to believe that we live "in" earth instead of "on" earth and that asia and America were on opposite end inside a globe. When the rockets (Space Craft) went into space it actually created a hole in the earth.

I used to believe that one night, gravity would go away and everyone would float into outer space.

I also believed that if a comet hit us, the same would happen.

I use to believe that the sun and the moon were one object and just flipped around when day turned into night or night into day

I thought that the moon wasn't cheese, but quite possibly a cookie. I got this belief from watching Rugrats, where in a certain episode, the babies imagined themselves as dinosaurs and wanted to eat the moon, since it WAS a cookie. The way they showed it, the moon looked kinda tasty.

mmm... TASTY!!!

I used to believe that the sun and the moon were back to back and they turned around slowly at the appropriate time (thats why there was a sunrise and sunset)

My little brother once was in the car with the sun in his eyes. He told me to shut it off.
Another time, he was lying on the couch, and the sun was in his eyes again. He told me to close the window, and I told him that it wouldn't matter if the window was closed; it's made of glass. He then demanded that I pick him up and reposition him so that he wasn't facing the window. Are all kids that lazy when they're five?

When I was in preschool, I believed in the man in the moon, which was on what would've been the first ever Wiggles CD, I think (it wasn't actually a song, it was a recording of one of the guys from the Wiggles talking about the man in the moon). I can still remember the bit where he says "The man in the moon has no hair!" which was the bit that my brother and I always laughed at. I believed that when it was night time, the man in the moon would have his light on, which was the reason why the moon glowed.

When I was little, I used to believe that ANYONE could go to the moon, qnd that eventually EVERYONE had to go. In 1st grade, we learned about black holes, and I was sooooo terrified! They suck you up into this little tiny container and stretch you out so everyone will laugh at you when you get back! (so I thought) I was so worried that I ran to my mom and told her "Mom, I don't want to go to the moon! There are scary black holes up there, and I don't want people to laugh at me when I get back!" She was the one laughing, and I didn't understand why until I was around 9 or 10. God I was stupid!

I used to look at the big dipper question mark and think why everything in space looks still, yet moving somehow...where are they going..or what holds all the things in space? I was most awed when I learned our planet earth like is moving across space and we are not falling off of it somehow? Also I believed the shooting stars are actually bodies moving off to another space-time dimension!
