My brother believed up until the age of twelve that the "Big Bang" was the meteor crash that made the dinosaurs extinct.
When I was small my cousin told me that the earth had a bubble over it to keep all the trees, sand, and water from falling off. She also believed that space ships had pointed tips to puncture the bubble so they could fly into outer space. Can you imagine how horrified I was when I learned there was a hole in the atmosphere?
When I was a kid, I asked my mom can I get to the Moon. She said no, that's very, very far away. Then I asked : "What if I put one chair on another?" Standing on 1 chair was a pretty good height for me. And standing on 2 of them.. :)
The star wishing thing... Yeah. I used to believe that. Then I got mad and had a fit when my wishes of becoming a butterfly didn't come true...
When I was smaller my brother told me that the sun was going to blow up. Well, he was right, but I didn't realise that that would happen in several billion years. For the following week after he told me I had nightmares of the sun exploding. I woke up screaming, "IT'S EXPLODING! HEEEELLLLPPPP!" I still get him for the trauma today...
I use to watch alot of specials on the discovery channel about asteroids hitting the earth.I was so frightened by this that a couple nights i thought every little sound was the sound of an asteroid hitting the earth and destroying the world.Good thing i grew out of that phobia-lots of little sounds occur in the night
When I was small, the family had a party and being a young child I played up. My Uncle took me to the patio doors and told me to look up at the moon. He told me that if I made lots of noise the moon would hid. So I stood quiet for the rest of the night (and several nights after that) scared that the moon would disappear.
Can't wait to use this on my kids!
When I was a kid, I had a metal globe of the earth. I was under the impression that we lived on the inside of the shell, not the outside. I kept asking my Dad how can planes fly without hitting the inside of the planet. He had no idea what I was talking about.

I was a kid when the Soviets got Sputnik up. I asked my father if that wasn't dangerous--I thought we lived inside the earth, and that a satellite would poke a hole through the other side when it came our way. After he stopped laughing, he explained that we actually lived on the outside. Then, I worried about falling off!

When I was about 6, I heard about how the Earth is eventually going to be swallowed up by the Sun. For some reason I became obsessed with this and even though I knew it wasn't going to happen for a billion years or so - I still spent about 6 months in a state of perpetual panic.
one of my best friends has several theorys...
-the world is flat.
-space is a conspiracy
-there are 3420000 other worlds with identical versions of ourselves on them.
she is only 14!
When I was about 4 I found a rock in our backyard, and I don't know how but I concluded that since I hadn't seen it there before it had fallen there from the moon, and my parents agreed w/me and let me believe that for the longest time ...I used to brag to my friends that I had a piece of the moon up until I was like 10... boy did I feel dumb when I found out it was just a stupid rock.
When I was little, I used to think that the nine planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, etc., were all located inside the "world", which looked like our globe. So North America was "Earth", and each of the other continents was also a planet. It never occurred to me that there weren't nine continents. And I thought "space" was the area between the planets inside the world, and outside the world was "outer space." It wasn't untill later that I figured out that Earth and the World were the same thing.

A friend of mine believed that planets could become pregnant and give birth to new planets. She claimed that she saw a planet-birth on TV.
Needless to say, I was rather confused by hearing this, and spent the next few months wondering whether or not I should believe her. :-)

I used to believe that when the cow "jumped over the moon", he milked on it so that's why the moon was white..and was made of cheese because milk was in the moon.
When I was little my oldest brother told me that if you whistled at the Northern Light they would come down and take you away.
I used to believe that if you counted all the stars in the sky, a shooting star would appear and place itself somewhere in my honour just because I had accomplished the task of counting every star in the sky.
I used to believe that if you saw the first star of the night and said "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight" your wish would be granted. I thought you could trick it too, pretend that you only saw one star even if you'd seen more.
When I was younger I used to believe that the moon was made of cheese. I used to want to be an astronaught so I could go to the moon and eat some moon-cheese. I never stopped to think that Wallice and Gromit's 'Grand Day Out' may not actually be true!!
until i was about 6, i was completely convinced the moon was made of pudding. i would always try to convince my mom to take me to the moon so i could try the pudding.
