My dad told me the moon was lit exclusively by lite reflected from the earth and believed it himself. I could never figure how a reflection could produce a crescent.

I used to believe that the full moon caused all "lunatics" to go berserk. Believe it or not, it wasn't until I was eighteen and started my nurse training that my fears were allayed.

When I was little I used to think that the night sky was like a big cloth or curtain and that the stars were tiny holes in the fabric. These holes would let heaven shine through.

I used to believe that the sky was like a ceiling and that if you flew high enough you could touch it. I felt completely safe and cozy with that believe until the teacher told us about space and gravity. I tried not to think about it! One day I was on the front lawn spinning around and around...I finally fell on my back, dizzy...and thought about what the teacher said. I held onto the grass for dear life! I just knew I was going to float away into outer space!

I use to think that the sun and moon were one and the same. I thought in the day time, when it was on, we called it the sun, and at night, when it wasn't as bright, we called it the moon. This was until on a clear day i saw the moon and the sun were separate.

As a small boy growing up in the space age I couldn't figure out why the astronauts never saw the angels as they travelled through the heavens

When I was about 6 or 7 i used to think we lived INSIDE the world I thought that the earth was a hollow ball of dirt and we all lived inside it. My belief wsa confirmed when on a train i looked out of the window the clouds parted and is saw the top of the world!(it was really the moon but i couldnt see the whole thing)And i thought astronauts would fly throught little crater like holes when they went into space.

The star wishing thing... Yeah. I used to believe that. Then I got mad and had a fit when my wishes of becoming a butterfly didn't come true...

I used to think that the moon was just a reflection of Earth. I used to stand at my window at night and wave upwards, thinking that my mirror-image would be waving back down at me.

I used to think that when the crickets chirped at night, it was the stars making that noise because when I looked at the stars, they neemed to flicker and it corresponded with the chirping of the crickets...sometimes when I listen to the crickets now, I still get the image in my mind of the starts glowing and flickering.

When I was young, my sister told me the stars get in the sky when I'm not looking by shooting out of the flowers at night! One night, I actually sat on the patio watching the flowers in our yard, waiting for the stars to come out!

I used to think the Earth rotated really really fast and that we just didn't notice because of our atmosphere. I thought that's how gravity worked too - that we were stuck to the ground because of the spinning

When I was small, I thought that the moon was a big cheese, and when there wasn´t a full-moon I thought that a giant had bitten of a bit of the moon/cheese.

When I was younger my father and I used to watch a lot of westerns on TV. There were always "shootouts" between the Cowboys and the Indians...I used to believe that the stars in the skies were make from the arrows and the bullets that didn't hit their mark. I thought they didn't have stars before this because in the night scenes it was always black in the sky. From the minds of children come amazing thoughts sometimes...lol...
