When I was 3 or 4, my dad told me that it was cold on Mars. Being an impressionable child, I assumed that Mars was the outermost planet in the solar system. Fortunately, an early obsession with outer space fixed that when I was 6 or 7.
I used to believe that universe is very much part of our world. Stars are twinkling because there are many matter between the star and me which is obstructing the view, like when we travel in the train in night and see a distant light flickering through many obstruction which cannot be seen in the dark. I used to also believe that since earth is rotating at the surface nearly 5 miles per second. so, why not the aeroplane merely stand in the sky and drop down when the earth moves below and come to the destination.
I am sure you enjoyed my childhood beliefs.

In Thailand, I used to (probably still do) believe that if you point your finger at the Moon, it will come down at midnight and cut the bottom part of your ear.
Funny how I remember I also got cut once. Huh?
I used to believe that we didn't live On the planet, but IN the planet and that when you crossed the sky on an airplane you could arrive in China. It was a shock to me when I heard the truth :)
When I was a child, I used to believe that the sun followed me.
that there really was a man on the moon at all times
I used to believe that the sun and the moon were one. During the day the moon became the sun. And during the night the sun became the moon.
As a child I believed that the earth was an electron, the sun was the center and the solar system an atom, and continued until the universe was like a set of molecules until several universes forming a human body ..... Sometimes I still think the same thing
one day an old lady told me that the man on the moons legs were in his mouth , cause you can only see the mouth and the eyes how stupid
that all planets were stars
I used to believe that all planets have the same:
1. gravitational force
2. air pressure
3. temparature range
4. air composition
5. period of rotation
6. period of revolution around its star
as earth.
i believed that the moon was made of cheese and i tried to go up there but couldn't
I used to believe there were more than just one moon, in fact a good amount that were stored somewhere in the sky (such as a bin) when they weren't being used. THEY ONLY COME OUT WHEN IT IS THEIR TURN!
I used to believe that we lived inside the earth (a bit like a snowglobe), and that the ozone layer was the earth's crust. I remember being told about the problem with holes in the ozone layer, which I assumed were caused by rockets going into space and having to smash through it.
There was an old Earthworm Jim episode that said that the universe was contained within a giant snowglobe. I believed it and refused to shake any snowglobes for a few years because I thought it would be killing a bunch of innocent aliens.
I used to belive that the moon was full of candy.
when i was 5 years old i thought that little elves lived on each star and use a candle to lit it up. and there were lots of elves on the moon they all hold hands and light the moon up with candles my mum was worried she took me to the hospital 3 times
Until i was, like, 10, I never got the Uranus joke. I'd ask my mom, "Whats a nus? And why am I one?"
As a kid it was always my dream to go on a space ship (which I pictured like an airplane) and ask the piolit to stop right as we were entering earth so when I looked out my window half would be outer space and half would be earth, as if there was a distinct line seperating the two. I thought that was the coolest thing ever.
When I was 7 years old, I used to believe that the moon was a ball of snow.
