At the age of 4 , I thought , as we drove by the industrial section of town (e.g. potatoe chip factory), in the midst of winter billows of beautiful white steam flowed out of many pipes creating cloud like billows. Consequently , I thought these were cloud factories.

When my children were little there was a asphalt plant in the town we lived in and it had a smoke stack. And I told them it was a cloud machine and for years they believed it and told others untill they were about 12 years old.

I told my kids that the huge chimneys at the power station were cloud machines. Travelling past one day, the sky was blue and the first chimney wasn't smoking (strange coincidence?), but a few miles up the road and the sky began to cloud over. I used to believe that this power plant near my home was actually a Cloud Factory and the steam coming from it were the freshly produced clouds. I used to believe that the oil refineries near my house were really "cloud making factories." This seemed reasonable, I lived in Los Angeles near the ocean, the smoke-stacks were near the ocean, clouds are white, smoke is white...
I use to believe that the refinery at the edge of town was the cloud factory because white "clouds" of smoke would rise from the pipes over the oil factory
