I grew up in Florida were it doesn't snow. In school we would create snow flakes for decorations during the holidays. But it wasn't until I saw snow at age 18 that I realized snow flakes were microscopic, not 8x10.
I used to belive that rain drops were the angels tears and dog poop out in the neighborhood was left by the angels also.

Ok, I live in a place where it snows quite a bit. When I was in kindergarten, I thought that when it snowed, it was god's dandruff. I beleived this until I was in the third grade, I think. So, whenever it would snow, I was afraid to go outside because I thought I would get dandruff.
I remember thinking that when a sun went behind a cloud and things were a little darker because you were in the cloud's shadow what actually happened was a big factory just shut off all the lights and caused the world to get a little bit darker.
one day in first grade the teacher was telling us about weather baloons. i asked how the the baloon let us know what weather was up there and she explained that the ballon had instruments in it. That baffled me for quite some time... i assumed that the ballon had musical instruments such as a drum, trumpet, guitar etc... and somehow a specific weather condition would make the instruments play different tunes. i wondered if the scientist had to hear the tune while it was still high in the air or if when they brought it back down, it was still playing the tune.
i now have a degree in climatology and am working in the insurance business... go figure!
When I was 5 I used to believe that a tornado was a big ball that smashed everything that it rolled over.
So one day me and my friend tried to make a tornado trap. We used wood with nails sticking up so that when the tornado rolled over it, it would pop. It never worked, I was upset until I saw a real tornado on tv.
When i was younger , maybe about 7 or 8 i used to believe clouds never moved or changed shape. they would stay in the same position and the world moved, i believed if it rained one day then the same time the next year when the world turned a full circle it would be raining again
when i was younger i used to think that when the snow was on the ground that that is what made it cold and i always would hope that the snow would melt so it would be summer again
When i was little, i would listen to the weather news with my dad. When they would say that there was a certain percent chance of rain, lets say 20%, i always thought that it was going to rain 20% of the rain that was in the whole sky.
When I was little, my friend always used to cry on cold frosty mornings. She believed that Jack Frost would break into her house at night, using the key that Santa had given him. The frost the next morning was to let you know he'd been there. Goodness knows what he did when he got into the house, or how Santa got the key!

I used to think if a tornado sucked up a poisonous mushroom, it would die.
Clouds are made of cotton wool

My uncle convinced me that the morning fog looming over in the smokey mountains was caused by thousands of beavers making steaming cups of coffee.
When it rained I used to think that God was crying so I told everyone I saw to be good to make make God happy again. Then when it got sunny I knew that it had worked. I was only about 4 at the time.
When I was little I would watch all of the American television shows and movies. Because of this I was under the impression that it is supposed to snow on Christmas. I would often pray for it to snow on Christmas.
Every Christmas I would go outside and there would be no snow.
It took me until I was about 7 to figure out that it doesnt snow In Australia.
One day, I was reading a juvenile novel, and the hero passed through a cloud. To his confusion, and mine, it wasn't a pleasant experience: the cloud didn't hold him, nor was it like fluffy cotton candy. Instead, he passed right through the cloud, which was full of water == all wet and rainy! yuck! I was very disappointed after realizing that I could never sit on a "soft fluffy cloud," and wished I would have never learned the truth!!
