I used to believe that, at night, snow and/or rain came from streetlights. I never took into account where I thought it came from during the day... but at night I was certain it came from streetlights.

Ever since I can remember, I always thought I could talk to the wind. If it was blowing hard, I would put my hands on my hips and say "Stop being so cranky!" and the like for different situations... Sometimes I'm still tempted to ;)

I was told by my Dad that I had to stay inside during a hurricane because the eye would spot me and come destroy the house. I think i was 14 when I stopped dreaming of this huge eye looking at me.

When I first came to the U.S. I was 5 years old and it was winter. A few days into the move to our apartment in NYC it had snowed overnight. When I first saw the snow I thought it was piles of sugar all over the streets. I asked my dad why there was sugar all over the streets, he laughed.

When I was little I thought that all clouds were made from aeroplanes, because they always left a line of "cloud" behind them in the sky

When I was little I thought that smokestacks were cloud machines. I was positive that the pollution pouring out of the top was the new clouds being released into the sky and that was how the weather man decided if it would be cloudy or sunny.

When I was a child I believed that the wind was caused by the world moving really fast through space. The more windy it was, the faster the world must have been spinning.

When I was under 10 I used to believe that I could control rain. I called myself the queen of rain. I thought it rained if I wished so. I even had a red umbrella and I enjoyed walking in the rain and I always felt fine if it was raining. I could also stop raining ;)))
(I still love rainy weather.)

Up until the other day my friend thought that SPF 30+ sunscreen meant that the temperature had to be above 30 degrees for you wear it. I was the one to inform her that this was not the case.

I used to believe that when it rained in one place, it rained all over the world. When told that this wasn't true, I imagined that there was an imaginary line, and that one side would be intense rain, while the other, only few feet away, would be clear and sunny.

I used to believe that when my parents said it rains in Washington all the time, it rains ALL THE TIME.

I was shocked when we were moving here and crossed the border and it was clear.

I'm almost 30 and just told my parents this one :)

I used to believe that the clouds passing by was evidence that the world was spinning and that windy days meant the planet was spinning extra fast.
