When I was 7 my older sister and all of the lifeguards at my neighborhood pool convinced me that there was a thing called a wetifyer. If you turned the wetifyer off then once you got out of the pool you would no longer be wet. I believed them until I finally became a lifeguard myself and asked my boss where the wetifyer was located...

When I was little, I was at a photography studio with my parents. I saw a sign that said something like, "Order today and get 12 free wallets!" I didn't understand that "wallets" were a type of photo and I spent the rest of the visit wondering what anyone would do with 12 wallets. I figured you could give them away to family and friends...

when my sister and i were young, we went to a pool that had white tiles on the bottom of the shallow end, with the occasional black tile. my sister believed these black tiles were bottomless abysses and refused to step on them for years, until one day she braved it and was completely shocked it was just another tile.
one time, my friend and i were with our mothers and younger sisters. the moms wanted the younger sisters to take a nap while my friend and i went to the playground. to refrain from upsetting the younger siblings, my mother said that the younger ones were going to "dreamland" while we went to the park. i was extremely jealous as i thought dreamland was a theme park even better than disneyworld, and i couldnt believe i had to go to the stupid playround while my sister and friend's sister went to this magic kingdom.
