I used to believe that plays were totally improv, and that people from random places around the room could just run on stage at any given time and take part.

I used to believe the Pass With Care signs on the road meant that you should be very careful if you went into the woods, field, or whatever it happened to be there on the side of the road...

You know how some hotels are called "Hotel Name and Suites"? Well I always used to think suites was meant to be suit, as in bathing suit. I thought that all of those hotels had a pool, and they had extra bathing suits in case you forgot yours. I pictured this big room with men's, women's and children's suits, in every size. I thought that was a lot of work for a hotel to go through.

My dad asked me to get him a 99er from the van one day, so i duly obliged and brought back a small chocolate flake - minus an ice cream.

Dad was not amused and had to run out and get his own from a bemused ice cream man.

I was of preschool age one time when my Mom and I were doing some quick shopping. She told me that around the corner, she was going turn into a candy store for a minute. I could hardly wait! I wanted to watch her "turn into a candy store" so I could get a tootsie roll before she turned back into my mom! It never happened. I was so bummed out!

My birthday is June 14th. Here in the US that is also flag day. Growing up on my birthday everyone would put out their flags on their houses, cars or whatever. My parents told me they did that because it was my birthday. Until I was 10 I believed them

The was a big salvation army donation box that was near the longos ner my house and it had a picture of a missing girl on it. So i used to believe that the little girl was trapped for eternity living in the box because she got separated from her parents and that we would drop off my old toys for her to play with.

I didn't know what water towers were for, however I did know that they were called "water towers." I guessed that they collected rain water. When it would rain, a door on the top would automatically open and allow the rain water through. The water would be filtered, and sent through underground pipes to the local water company's headquarters, also underground.

well, when i was EXTREAMLY YOUNG (like in the early 1940's) my brother told me that if i stood by the coal truck long enough and get covered in soot, then i'd become a pice of coal.

A physician I work with once told me, that when he was a little boy he believed, when a store "Closed for Inventory", it meant that they were closed so they could "invent" new things. He couldnt wait for them to reopen, so he could see all the new things they invented.

I used to believe that walking around the local streets in a certain order would bring me out at the seaside which was 170 miles away. Never did find the correct order of turns, so I'd take a different routes so often that I'd get so lost in some alley somewhere, and have to explain this all to the police. So, now, here I am safe with my own special gown, in my own special room, being spoon fed 3 times a day by my own special friends.

when i was little when i saw a plastic bag in the road i always made my parents go and get it so i could take it home and look after it

actually i still do that now!?

I used to believe…

a child my sister and i always used to run into our house shouting at mum for an ice cream whenever we heard the ice cream van tune... now i'm a mum i saw how annoying this could be - to just drop everything you are doing to run up the street and try and catch the van before it moved on. therefore i have told my children that the man in the van plays his music to attract small children to take them away! my eldest- now 12 cannot believe that he fell for it.. my kids are the only ones not screaming at mum when they hear that familiar tune from down the street!!!

When I was young, every time I walked by the clothing store called HOT TOPIC, I was never allowed to set foot in there because my mom told me that whoever steps foot in there worships the devil. So every day when I go to school, whenever my classmates mentioned to me that they bought this or that at HOT TOPIC, I would get scared and I tried my best to go along with the conversation or else they could've killed me anytime they wanted to.

I thought my kids would enjoy seeing a snow plow drive down our street, since it’s not an everyday occurrence. So when I would hear the familiar rumble after a snowfall, I would shout, “snow plow!” and my son and I would run to the front window to see it go by.

I just found out the other day that my 5yo daughter thought “snow plow” was some kind of winter swirling tornado thing that went by. No wonder she would never run to the window with us!

I used to believe that those signs on the roads that say HIDDEN DRIVE was a game set up on the road. The rules? that you had to find them. I told my mom one day that I always won and see just stared at me and laughed. I felt so dumb!
