when i was little my mom told me that the ice cream truck was the 'music truck' so that i wouldn't ask for ice cream everytime it came around. i asked why it stopped and people talked to the driver and my grandpa said that the driver stopped to let them listen to the music. i didn't figure it out until i was at a friend's and she yelled 'THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!' when it came around and i was like 'no it's the music truck!' she thought i was crazy.

I used to believe that each streetlamp in the whole world had a very small man inside who worked the switch.
The mall I go to has a slope going around it so that there are parking lots on both floors. Until someone showed me the slope, I thought that if you go out the door to the parking lot on a floor where you didn't park, you'd end up in some alternate dimension.
i used to think adoption was done by visiting the baby store, and picking out the one you wanted. i can still remember my vague versions of a store lined with babies.
kind of like a pet store i guess.
i had a wild imagination.
my friend told me that if you looked up at the stars at midnight and said "ice cream man" 3 times , you would find a bloody bullet in your ice cream the next day. i tried it and i thought i saw the bullet but it was just a strawberry.
My sister used to tell me that the fake rocks that cover the electric cicuits would create music when you weren't near them. I would always try and catch the rocks in the act, but never did...
I used to be terrifed that if you were in a store in the mall after it closed, they would shut the gate on you and lock you in there for the night. Everytime an employee went on the intercom announcing the store was about to close, i would burst into tears and start screaming hysterically until we left.
...yeah.

If I crossed the road without looking both ways and waiting for the cars then they were allowed to run me over.
I used to believe that houses were alive. The windows were eyes and the front door the mouth. The house had feelings, ie happy when the family living inside had events like a new baby, a birthday party, a holiday, a wedding, etc. Sad when there was sickness, injury, arguments or death to someone in the family. If a house was empty, it was unloved; if it was torn down, it was murdered.
I used to believe that those little crystally things that you put on ice ( I have no idea why you put it on ice) were really valuable crystals. My friends and i would pick up as many as possible and keep them in our pockets so that we could become millionares! My mum got cross wit me and said tha they were wrecking my pockets, and i just loked at her and went" Mum, these are really valuable! don't you want to be rich?" I would have just laughed but my mum was furious!!!
When i was around 10 give or take, me and my friends actually believed we could build some sort of secret world below the ground outside in the apartments where we lived you know a little secret underground fully equiped with a tv and everything. So after carefully thinking thru and discussing this top secret project and making sure nobody finds out especially any grown ups, we got prepared for some serious digging. We dug at the side of the building maybe a 10 square foot area. It was a hidden area so we dug all day. I think we even continued the next day first thing. Well we had dug so deep we were all having second thoughts thinking about the trouble we would get in if caught.
Sure enough not too long after that the landlord caught us and almost had a heart attack. We had almost dug out a swimming pool.
I used to think that when my mom went brought groceries, I didn't understand why she said she went fruit chopping. Later my sister told me I had misheard food shopping.
Before I learned to read, I would go shopping with my mom. If I wanted to go into a toy store, she would point out the sign on the door and tell me that it said "No little blonde boys allowed."
When I was little, I used to believe that the tow truck was and actual toe. Then when our car brokedown on the freeway I got really excited when I was told that the tow truck was coming. Boy, was I in for a shock!
When I was in grade school, I loved to play on the playground bars at recess. One day I was in the back seat while my older brother and my mom were talking in the front of the car. I wasn't paying much attention to them but did hear my mom say that there used to be lots of bars on the street we were driving down when my mom was younger.
I sat up and looked around, trying to imagine the street filled with bars and happy children playing on them. Sounded like heaven to me!
To this day I can't go down that street without an inner smile, with that picture still in my head - even though I know now that the bars they were talking about were of the saloon variety, not the playground bars I knew and loved!
My dad used to tell me that he can control the metallic signs on the streets, he turns the high beam of the headlights so the signs reflects the light and appear like they were lighting, then he turns the beam low again to turn them off ! i was 6 back then.
I used to believe those odd black pouch-looking things up on telephone wires held the workmen's tools so they wouldn't have to keep going up and down the pole to their truck to get tools. Still don't know what they're for however...
