Approximately from 3rd to 4th grade, I suspected some sort of secret society existed in the area where I lived. I gradually began to notice that large groups of people, such as in a restaurant or crowded streets, they would occasionally signal each other.

If you were in such a crowd long enough, you might hear a tiny electronic *beep*, sometimes it might a double *beep-beep*. A few minutes later, a beep answers from somewhere else. These little beeps are hard to localize so you can't really tell who its coming from. This signaling would slowing build up, then fade away. I didn't think they were exchanging information, more of a "I'm here, too" reassurance to each other.

I couldn't figure out who these people were or what their organization was about; the groups of people that signaled each other seemed random and there were no other clues i could discern.

Later I realized it was digital watches beeping on the hour.

I used to think all ice cream truck drivers were molesters coming to kidnap kids

I used to think if you get married sometimes you'll get a kid by chance for no reason if you're lucky

I used to think if I ate fish my stomach would get filled up with ants

I thought I was dying when I saw the blueish color of the palm of my hand.

When I was really little, like 4 or 5, I was very intimidated by kids older than me. I always thuoght of myself as a "little kid". I would go to buger king and be really hungry, but I would never order the "big kids meal" because i was konvinced that i wasn't a big kid.

I used to believe that if I swam long enough in my pool or in the ocean with my legs together, I would turn into a Mermaid and could play with Ariel. I think a part of me still believes that.

My parents told me that when I heard the song on the ice cream van it meant that all the ice cream had run out. For about 10 years I thought there was a huge shprtage on ice cream!

I used to ask my mother why she would complain about spending money at the grocery store. At the end the cashier would hand my mother some coins. So, I reasoned, if you were getting more coins back than the bills you gave, then you were MAKING money, not spending it.

I used to believe that you can only walk over zebra on the white lines. It was hard for me to make those giant steps, until my older sister explained me what it's really for...

When I was little I used to like to wander away in the store so my mom told me that a man with a sack was going to come and get me if I left her sight. Well in Spanish (the language she spoke to me in) the word for sack is the same as the word for coat. So for a long time I was terrified of any man wearing a coat!

I grew up in a rural area and we didn't have any ice cream truck. So I thought they were just something that was made up for TV and movies.

I use to believe that in the gutters down my street lived alligators. My brother and I would go out there every single morning and feed them bread crumbs because we were afraid if we didn't feed them they would come and eat us!

My older cousin told me when I was young that if I peed in the pool the water would turn purple. I didn't do it for a long time until one day I was brave enough to proove it false. hehe.

I use to think that when I got in line at a theme park that the whole park would follow my family due to secret speakers.

When I was little I thought that when you went into an elevator that it was like a magic time machine. I didn't realize they went up and down. I thought that they magically turned the floor outside into another place.

When I was young I went bowling with my parents once. By the entrance there was a room which I could see through the window was dark and had toys scattered on the floor. When I asked my parents what the room was they told me that's where they put little boys and girls who didn't behave. The only weird thing is that even as an adult when I've driven by that alley I get a weird feeling despite knowing my parents were just trying to get me to behave.
