When I was very little, the ice cream truck used to come by my house in the summer. My parents told me it was the 'music truck', and it came by to play music to all the little boys and girls. Naturally, I was heartbroken when my best friend told me that it was actually the ice cream truck. So I packed up my few belongings and 'ran away from home' (walked across the street), sat there on my suitcase for ten minutes, then decided to forgive my mom and dad and came back.
I was quite strange.

After watching "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" I was afraid of the ice cream truck. I thought I would be kidnapped and put in jail, just like the movie.
I used to think that ice cream vans were "kid police". The police in my neighborhood drove around in van-like cars, and since I knew that police arrested adults, and that their cars played "music" when they were chasing somebody, I thought that the music coming from the ice cream vans meant the kid police were coming to arrest me.
Before swimming lessons, my mom would always tell me to finish eating ALL of my lunch, and that if I didn't...in the water, I'd sink - because I didn't have enough food in me.
I honestly believed this till about grade 7...in what turned out to be an embarassing conversation with friends.
When I was little and my parents used to take me to the zoo I loved it so much I never wanted to go home, so my mom exitedly said, lets go see the exit and I couldnt wait to see this new animal and eagerly ran along. Oh was I disappointed.
I used to think that double yellow lines painted onthe road were actually pipelines of honey for bears that lived underground.
When I was young I lived in an area (in the UK)where lots of new roads were being built. As the building was taking place these markers were used for some reason and they were usually a straight piece of wood with another piece across - like a crucifix shaped piece of wood a couple of feet high.
I used to think that these were the graves of people who had died while working on the new road - it made me feel that building roads must be a very dangerous job to have!
I grew up on a road that had a gravel pit, and there was a sign saying "trespassers will be persecuted". I knew that Jesus had been persecuted , but I'd mixed up / combined that with crucified.... so I never went in there. I didn't want to be nailed to a cross!
When I was little, I thought that people paid their employers to let them work. When my mom told me that people got paid to work, I was shocked.
Also, one time I asked my mom why anyone would shop at Fashion Bug because Fashion Bug plus had better cloths, hence the word "Plus."
I used to believe that there were lil people in vending machiens for the cokes and there were levels. the top level was the smart mini people who handeled the money and giving you change and all that. And then they would call the bottom level and tell them what the person wanted and they all wore there lil tool belts and construction hats and overalls and everything. and they would push the coke into the big hole thingy. and that is how the vending machines for cokes are.

When I was like six, I thought there were homeless people at the dump so I used to make whole sandwiches and put them in the garbage for the people to eat.

If things were out of place in the grocery store (i.e. candy in the pasta isle, etc) I thought it was free. I ended up taking a few things home.
When I was little we did a project in school about Van Gogh . I used to think that the van rental place was actually a shop owned by a man who was called Van Rental.
When I was about 10 years old, I saw a van going by that looked like an ice cream van, except it said said things like tacos, quesidillas, burritos, etc., etc. on it. Therefore, I thought the guy was the taco man. I can still remember the look on the guy's face when I yelled "Taco Man! Come back!! I've got money! I want a taco!!!!" It's been 8 years since that day and I'm now almost 19.
I was a funny kid XD

I always used to think that skinny men lived in lamp posts and that they turned them on at night to keep us safe.
I used to believe…
you know how there are used car lots with cars outside with the year of the make of the car on the front of them?? well i thought that was the price of the car...i couldn't figure out why someone didn't want to pay only 92 dollars for a car
I often wondered what No Outlet meant when we would go driving down new neighborhoods. Where did these people get the electricity from? I don't get it? How do the lights go on in the house?
When I was little, my dad would tell me that if anyone ever tried to kid-nap me, all I had to do was try to get under a street light and they would let me go. I didn't understand his sarcasm so I really believed that if that ever happened to me, all I would have to do is get under a street light and I would be ok!
I used to think that in adressing room, if you push annd/or touch the doorstopper ont he wall, you will go bouncing off the walls and never stop. I touched one once when i was a kid my accedent and started crying, thats when my mom broke the news to me.
